The Shakers
Spot On Godz. Terry Cashman (ex Chevrons on Brent) joined with Gene Pistilli and Terry West. They are the writers behind "One Wonderful Moment" and the flipside "Love, Love, Love". Gene Pistilli later became an original member of Manhattan Transfer. Terry Cashman had a hit in 1981 with "Talkin Baseball" Tommy West (along with Terry Cashman) had a couple of LP's out on ABC Dunhill and wrote with Jim Croce. Some Pics of the members of The Shakers today. Mystery solved Mel? Left To Right : Shit Little Pic of Gene Pistilli Terry Cashman with Guitar Tommy West Looking Cool Gene Pistilli inbetween two 'younger' guys!

The Shakers
No Ken. You know its not. The Councel 'Detroit Shakers' "Help Me Find My Way" is a Boot. As you said earlier, this track is an Outsiders LP track that was C/U as Detroit Shakers as it sounded 'similar' to the Detroit Shakers "Help Me" 45 on Soul Cat. I think its quite possible that the Shakers of "One Wonderful Moment" fame and the Detroit Shakers of "Help Me" are one and the same... but somehow I doubt it! Sean

David Jones Records?
Hi Sean, Good to see you on board and hope you and yours are well! How's Noel & Wally and all? DJ quite a lot around Rotherham.... mainly Crossover and what have you... pretty busy this next few months. Did a Kimberworth gig a couple of weeks ago and Gary & Alyn Hodgson turned up! Top night! Look forward to seeing you around on Soul Source if not elsewhere. All the best Sean

Mojo Records (polydor)
The 'Workin' compilation was my introduction to the wonderful "Maybe" from the 3 Degrees, Eddie! A superbly compiled album. Agree a Mojo LP list would be useful! Sean

Mojo Records (polydor)
That was it Roger. The stall (and Shop) were "The Sound Of Music" (cute huh!). Dread to think of all that stuff that went through my fingers for 50p! . Hence, I had my famous standing order for virtually every UK Soul release at that time. Left me broke... but happy! Violet Mays... now that was some place too. I bought almost the entire Action collection off the old gal... for less than ten bob each... and loads of other luvverly British. Picked up Johnny Baker "Shy Guy" for 20p long before it got played (mecca) out of Violets too! Mate, they wouldn't believe you if you told 'em! Where you from then? Donny? Be a Boylans lad as well then, I'll wager? Sean

Any Idea What This Is Worth?
Sorry.... £25.00 is the best I can do! Sean

Price Please
Has gone for up to £70 on many UK Dealer lists, but can be picked up on eBay for less than $50. I've sold three copies in the past 12 months (for less than £50). Great LP though! Sean

Mojo Records (polydor)
Hi Roger, When was that then? I ran the Record stall on Rotherham Market, in the 70's.... from 74 until 78. Prior to that, the guy who had the plot had all his Soul stuff (UK & US) priced at 35p. I soon put that straight though. So if you paid more than 35p they will have come from me! Sean

Mojo Records (polydor)
Great Record too (I Did The Woman Wrong). A Southern beater... just how I like 'em! Blinding label, Mojo, with quite a few hidden and underplayed Gems on there. Jean Battle, Joe Simon "Let Me Be The One", Millie Jackson "Ask Me What You Want" etc. Sean

Northern Soul Injustice Dept
Sounds good. I would have thought there can't be anything much worse than being a victim of malicious rumours... apart from the direct threats and intimidation that accompanied the correspondence. Hope this all works out well for you both. Sean

Northern Soul Injustice Dept
Precisely. Which is exactly why he needs to be notified.

Northern Soul Injustice Dept
A Horror Story. Have you heard from, or been in touch with, Dave Conway since receiving the hate mail? Perhaps he would be able to add some clarity to the situation.

Presenting Dynamic Bobby Bland
Joking apart... I've got quite a few Columbia Solid Middle 7"s by Aretha Franklin (including I Can't Wait Until I See My Babys Face).... that play at 33... and I think (from memory) it actually states that they are Juke Box issues on the label. I guess there must have been 33rpm 'small spindle' Juke Boxes around in the late 50's - early 60's, but as Dave Rimmer said earlier.. I've never seen one either. Seems they're quite common then Thorsten! Sean

That's not evidence mate. It's obviously a Misprint! Find me a Juke Box that'll play 'em? Sean
-
Presenting Dynamic Bobby Bland
Hi Thorsten, I've got (I think) the full set of these 33rpm DUKE jobbys (about 7 or 8 from memory). Half are Junior Parker, the other half Bobby Bland... including the superb and indemand 36 22 36! They aren't Juke Box tracks (small centre and wrong speed) they're just an awesome collection of Duke tracks. Sean Hampsey

My First Ever Wants List
Can't do that Mikey. It's Jackie Wilson. Sean

My First Ever Wants List
Oh yes! Jackie Wilson bliiiiiiiiiiiiiiinds the BellBoys... plus you get the bonus, magnificent, flipside "Just Be Sincere" on Brunswick 55309. Would certainly recommend it to go on your new wants list, Mikey. Agree on 78/79 Sean

Tuesday - Cd-only Tunes
Phillip Mitchell song, Peter, done to even better effect (IMO) by Bobby Womack on the "Home Is Where The Heart Is" LP. Sean

David Jones Records?
Well Done Paul. The old "Cease & Desist" normally does the trick. Used it myself many a time (in my business) to amazingly rapid effect. Good result. Sean Hampsey

Herman Hitson
Herman Harper on Loadstone, that one, I think! Hitson also cut the awesome "You Can't Keep A Good Man Down" great crossover and Northern fave "Yes You Did". The CD is a cracker! Sean
