  1. Of course you're right.............you've only got to take a look at Gene Hunt & Stax from Abicah Soul Project to see that!! No different to me than watching a hero of 60's black America telling his/her story..............it's all facinating and all part of a rich musical history that continues to evolve. I wonder what exciting developments there'll be tomorrow Cheers, Mark R
  2. Great post Cheers, Mark R
  3. Thanks T.........much appreciated mate!! Cheers, Mark R
  4. Probably initially Sam Dees "After All"...........but that would have to soon turn into Cecil Lyde "I'll Make It On My Own" Cheers, Mark R
  5. Known as the "cut-out bin" in the shops Cheers, Mark R
  6. Well, it must sound ike that to you I suppose..........depends what you're listening to, might not be the music I'm thinking of, but if it happens to be, then I'd say that's bollocks!! Cheers, Mark R
  7. Larry Houston is another case in point..........I have the cleaner looking, yet probably less "original" looking pale orange label............the other is a darker oreange/red. Both OG vinyl with different labels??? Cheers, Mark R
  8. Certainly been on a vinyl comp. Sean..............Goldmine "Modern Soul Vol 1" as I recall......grey cover. Cheers, Mark R
  9. Unusually for me Simon, I can't remember where this came from..............NOT Soul Bowl though. Cheers, Mark R
  10. Thanks mate.....appreciate that..........a long standing question answered!! Cheers, Mark R
  11. The 2nd image posted is the copy I have, what's the difference? Are they both OG or is one a booter? I just bought it back in my younger days when I naively thought it was what was in the grooves that counted!! Cheers, Mark R

  15. Cheers T.........I'm sure there'll be one or two in there for you mate! Cheers, Mark R
  16. To be honest Pete, that's what I'd expect to hear from a 60's 4/4 etc, etc lover...............I would always expect those folk to like house rather than the smother stuff that the likes of Roger Williams, myself and numerable others also play..........it's mor akin to their roots. Always surprises me that very little do though (or SAY they do)........will it change????? Cheers, Mark R
  17. Well said Cliff Cheers, Mark R
  18. Wonder if you'd have said that if there were a 30 year time shift Pete, and it was what you grew up on as an 18 year old at Wigan Casino??? We'll never have an answer to that will we? Cheers, Mark R
  19. Pete............the chords, the nuancies, it's all there mate if you dig out the best examples................Epic hit the nail on the head with his post mate. I'm proud to say I can hear "it" in music from the 60's to the present day...............that doesn't make me better than anyone else BTW, but personally I can't imagine NOT having that appreciation. Of course though, whatever the era/genre, there's good and bad! Cheers, Mark R
  20. And the Motown formula, as an example, didn't????? It didn't have a "sound" that was like a signature?? As Ivor says, if you don't like it, you are probably likely to say this! Cheers, Mark R
  21. Blimey mate............I know the years fly by, but tell me that's not your boy in the avatar!! Cheers, Mark R
  22. Yup............£10 sealed 12" about 4-5 years ago Glyn.............nuts!!! Cheers, Mark R
  23. In my experience, every session is a dance comp of sorts...........sure Martin would back me up on that..........if you watch closely, they are always "battling" and taking it in turns..........congratulating each other etc..........great camaraderie. And arniej.........you are quite right..........I have seen some great NS dancers over the years, but of all the dancers I've seen, these guys and gals are the dogs bollocks!!! Not jazz dance, but topical to SS memebers..........here's Keb showing the youngsters how it's done in Russia: Cheers, Mark R
  24. Sound quality's sh!t, but that's Snowboy laying down the tunes again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiekPKtJGME Cheers, Mark R
