  3. Certainly first time I heard it was Minshull at Hinckley '83 as c/u as George Kirby............a mate was all excited it was gonna be played and said....."......he's gonna play this record in a minute, just wait til you hear it..."............of course, it is quite fantastic Cheers, Mark R
  4. Thanks Steve
  5. Not wishing to keep you busy Steve, but would be interested to see the reviews of M&M and Cecil Lyde!! Cheers, Mark R
  6. This is brill Steve..............your busting years of mystery here for me mate.............completing C90 track lisitings for me that I were given back then, before I got into new releases, being into Northern heavily then. Said C90's were part of my turning to new release stuff, and some of the titles I never got to the bottom of (obviously didn't try too hard!!).............as soon as I saw the Whispers and LTD cut titles, I could hear the songs in my head and thought "how the hell did I not twig that it was the Scott's and JO on those tracks!!". C'est la vie! Thanks a million mate! (& you of course, Sean!) Cheers, Mark R
  7. Brilliant stuff Steve...........all before my time, so great to read this!! Spooky though, that that article could be re-written replacing the tunes mentioned with contemporary ones, to reflect how some of us feel now with the latest "uptempo soul" releases.......all that excitement all over again...........and resisted all over again, just like 20+ years ago!! Cheers, Mark R
  8. As soon as I saw that title I just knew immediately you'd solved one of my "tape identity" problems Robin. Nice 1 !!!!!! Cheers, Mark R
  9. Well, the irony is Simon, I never attended that particular night..........in fact, that may have been just before my first TOTW visit................hard to remember now, but I think my first TOTW visit was after this date. So, not quite sure how I got this, but I am a bit of a magpie, so have got all sorts of tickets and flyers over the years! Cheers, Mark R
  10. Been interested following this thread.................the attached is related to this topic, and is lifted from Echoes early/mid-eighties..............in fact, can anyone date it? Cheers, Mark R
  11. Yes, I have this....good call.............can't be any good though, can it?......it's on CD only Could have a 7" cut though........it's OK to do it that way around Just having a bit of a laaaarf............seriously, it's a nice tune. Cheers, Mark R
  12. Hi Matt............that's not Tomo, take a closer look and think much closer to home I have that Stafford thing on an unmarked VHS somewhere.................can I find it?? Not a chance...............but it is there somewhere!!! I have lots of that stuff on VHS actually.................Leeds, Blackburn, Cleethorpes.......more too, but can't remember which. Always tried to tape these things when they cropped up..........think I got most of them along the way. See you Saturday, all being well. Cheers, Mark R
  13. I have a UK issue 12" of this....................it's "the right mix" as it were, and mine is in the "BLUE" cover.............so take care with the advice related to which colour cover UK 12" to go for!! Cheers, Mark R

  16. For those interested in some new grooves, such as Kenny Thomas (CD out at last!) & Ron Carroll, my next Starpoint Radio guest show will air as follows: Sunday 30th July 2-4pm Monday 31st July 7-9pm Hope some of you can join me @ www.starpointradio.com. Cheers, Mark R
  17. I should point out that I wasn't trying to force this down anyones throat, or suggest that it would necessarily cross-over to the NS scene, just posting it as a good soulful example of the genre that some folk on here may dig. As far as the Ann Nesby cut goes, see my Cleethorpes weekender playlists here: /index.p...29791&st=50 And to add even more interest, for those that don't know, Ann Nesby was the lead voice on those early Sounds Of Blackness tracks which are the subject of much interest elsewhere on the forum. Cheers, Mark R

  19. At what point (in terms of value of your tooons) will common sense prevail, and people start to CD-R them and use those..............I just know I'm gonna need my tin-hat here!! Seriously for a moment, isn't it bonkers..............especially with the thieving I keep reading about, trips abroad as mentioned here, some of the incorrectly set-up decks they get played on............not to mention the state of your lovely little disks by the time all that talc's settled on them................ ...........you might as well give them a rub with some light abbrasive paper as well!! I don't see a problem with burning them to CD-R.................as long as you can hold your head up high knowing full well you have the original copies of what you are playing. I suppose it's about playing the real thing though, I understand that..............a bit crazy though, you have to admit. Would you have a classic early Rolls-Royce and use it on an off-road course???? I think not. Food for thought.............have a nice time wherever you're going...........sure your records will be fine. Cheers, Mark R
