  4. This is a nice tune if you like mid-tempo sounds. Written by Joe Hunter & recorded circa 1968 on L.B.J. (WHAT NOW) ( which was a saying at the time regarding the then President Johnson ). Value does seem to vary these days. I picked up 2 copies in 1977 from Ebony Sounds shop in Leytonstone ( a treasure trove a place!!). Plan to sell my spare copy. The official A side is a funkier affair. I tried to upload sound file , but did'nt like it ( i am still stuck in 1977 when it comes to tech. ) Cheers, Jez Starpointradio.com

I went to this fantastic event in Hinckley with Brighton Boris (AKA Guildford's Paul Regan) & we went back stage (if there is such a place in a sports centre!) & had a good chat with Lou, JJ, Pat & Al. Took some great photos (& I still got the programme). Paul's jeans had a broken fly & have a cheeky pic of him with Pat Lewis looking like the phantom flasher ! Another pose & i lost my balance & fell crashing onto Lou Raglands guitar - most embarrassing . Wish i had a video of Popcorn Wylie at Hinckley - i shall never forget his ultra soulful rendition of 'Cool off' in his safari suit !! Pics of Paul (Brighton Boris) with broken fly getting real friendly with Pat Lewis - Talk about Solid Hitbound!! Boris (& me looking like a southern redneck) with JJ barnes, Lou Ragland, Pat Lewis & Al Kent - What a great photographer Edwin Starr was (only kidding) Jez Bishop starpointradio.com Wednesdays 7pm - 9pm (GMT)
  15. I heard that Luther passed away yesterday - althought this surprised me as he'd been ill for so long ( various local soul folk had done benefit shows for him) that i thought he died about a year ago ( last saw him on TV a couple of years ago & he was in a bad way then) anyway, it is a sad loss. Look forward to the KoKo project being prepared by 'Rockin' Tony Rounce! (PS - if you have'nt picked up the recent Millie Jackson re-issues Tony had a large hand in...don't hesitate-pick 'em all up!! Plenty of previously un-issued mixes on them too!!). Jez Lunchtime O' Bishop
