  3. didn't know it was out of Detroit, great record though. love it shorty
  4. It was getting played at some of the Modern Soul events a good couple of years before that I think from memory. Don't remember it before that though. big at the same time as Constellations "I Don't Know About You", always think of them together for some reason. The other side [P.O.W.] is good as well isn't it ? Huge favourite of Tats Taylor I recall……Hi Tats
  5. yep mine too Mark, missed the postman on Saturday . just been down to collect it now . will be playing - never be another you at the u.k charity soul gig at Leeds rhinos on Saturday. incidentally weren't you sporting a jacket like Lee Fields at the recent Soul Underground. only joking mate a great night ,enjoyed it shorty
  6. god I love this forum, thank for the heads up on that mate , gonna be all over that like a rash as they say. what a double header. shorty
  7. wow thats a great double header , have always looked upon London as the land of milk and honey going back over the years before computers became household de rigueur . Blues and Soul and Echoes seemed to be full of mouth watering acts coming over to the capitol but often not up north . shorty
  8. not massively advertised, all at the band on the wall . think the Leroy Hutson was switched to the Ritz but didn't happen anyway, fingers crossed for Lee, eh.
  9. yeah, funny place Manchester at the moment . lot of quality gigs half full or cancelled due to not enough sales. couldn't believe Leroy Hutson got cancelled with the valentine brothers in support , Leon Ware half full , kindred the family soul not exactly rammed, hope Lee gets the support he deserves shorty
  10. I see he's on in Manchester in January . got to try to make that. love to see him live. shorty
  11. So excited about this - my CD's on preorder and I'm hoping it arrives soon. My absolute favourite soul artist right now.
  12. superb review Brian , never be another you seems to be standout track as you say ,any idea if it will make it to 45 . plenty of quality on the album as well . another great year for soul music . shorty
  13. Cracking read, thankyou! Interesting points about DJs I'm sure they will love being referred to as 'intellectuals'... Interesting reference to 'Rust belt cities' too, not heard that one before! ps: you'll have to speed read it as the free book view runs out fairly quickly!
  14. They did not like that locker room photo. Also they hated re-mixes. They gave their hearts and soul to an original song in the studio, to see it then bastardised in some form or other. They were old school. A song is a song - not something cut up and spun around. If OVO is to vinyl, they were OSO - original song only ha ha.
  15. Very sad news indeed. Jimmy was lead singer longer with The Trammps than he was performing live with Double Exposure. It is he on the 'Hold back the night' with KWS in 1993! Double Exposure featured on a session I did with Bobby Eli in 2008. We released 'Soul Recession' as a result of that session and was pleased to be asked whether it could be also included on the 'Tom Moulton Philly re-grooved 3' double CD. It was of course and it featured adjacent to tracks that influenced me as a teenager in Hull to ultimately make me become a song writer. The best memory of the vocal overdub in the studio was Jimmys mobile phone going off in the middle of a great take. The ad libs he does are fabulous. They are not written down. He makes the song come alive with soul. It is such a shame no UK promoter brought them over here. They went back to performing because of our session. They thought nobody wanted them anymore until Bobby rang them about coming into the studio top record our co write with Chiquita Green. If you want to see them rehearsing in the studio to 'Soul Recession' before any vocals laid down, go here:- The Grooveyard studio Philly 2008 - Double Exposure/MFSB musicians
