I went about an hour before closing and walked in on a couple of guys from a local group playing unplugged (Except that they were playing plugged into a PA, I never understood that...) so where I thought I'd be able to browse freely I was all the time shoving my way through people who didn't want me getting in their way. In the end I pushed my way to the counter and just asked for the first item I focussed on on my list. I guess it was the capital letters that caught my eye, I asked for Numero's 'WTNG Solid Bronze'. They had it on CD but not vinyl. Bah. I bought the CD and ordered the vinyl, just hope I can sell the CD if the vinyl comes... I'm going to call in maybe Friday or Saturday to see if they have any of the other stuff I wanted. On the lighter side, it's good to see that a lot of the people offering RSD stuff at inflated prices on Ebay seem to have got stuck with it.

Yeah I've been waiting & waiting for a trad vinyl release on the R Kelly track.....looks like his record (Sic) company dont see any benefit in releasing a 'tactile' format of the single shame - because it would open him up to a wider audience.......which is surely what it is all about..... This has prob been mentioned already but this is a nice recent release....

I agree, Mike. In fact we discussed this last year. RSD needs to be serious as a scheme for promoting music to fans via record stores and not an excuse for some people to instantly exploit people via ebay after leaving customers disappointed in record stores - or outside in the rain after travelling and standing in queues for hours. People go home frustrated and then get exploited with inflated prices on ebay. Last year I suggested RSD should become RSW for Record Store Week. I think that would work better. I thought about doing a single for RSD this year but I decided against it. Paul

Hello Rich Please let me assure you that the IN THE BLOOD books are from anything of a racist nature. True they are gritty, raw and at times bloody. Pete's reference to Allen's books relate more to the era's in which the stories are set. IN THE BLOOD for instance is 1967, WHO THE HELLS FRANK WILSON is 1976 and TALCUM LOVE kicks off during the last night of the Casino. We do make ton's of reference to the clothing, music, attitudes from those periods thus giving the stories, I guess a 'Retro feel' (someone recently described us as retro writers...which I'm not sure I like or not! Last year I re-read Boot Boys and I remembered it being better. But then when I was a teenager I suppose it touched a different place. best S

The NEW ENGLISH LIBRARY novels were far from classic, if anything they were racist-flavoured trash, in the main written by RICHARD ALLEN who was a middle aged American who willingly exploited the Skinhead cult for his own gain...Hopefully these novels are better than those books which represent a definitive 'low' in contemporary youth cult fiction....

I agree Ritchie . I think it's great that these and so many other young people are embracing the music, the dancing and the scene , I too wish them all well with the success of this film Shaz x

I have had the pleasure of meeting a number of the young people involved in this film. Their enthusiasm and love of the scene really helped smash my cynicism around this sort of thing. I wish all involved well and really hope it becomes a success.

It should be Neil. As has been said on here before. Elaine is a devoted Northern Soul fan. She is a director telling a story (not THE story) of the Northern Soul scene, from an inside perspective if you like. As opposed to someone telling a story second or third hand. Looking at the guys Elaine has helping her, most from the scene too. I have every confidence that if anyone can do a good job, then its Elaine. Oh and Matt. You arent paranoid.
