  1. Bob, having a sense of humour was banned from the UK soul scene in 1937. At the same time it became mandatory to moan constantly and be miserable. People laughing and enjoying themselves are obviously not real soulies!
  2. ive heard you play this out a cpl of times barry.....im glad your playing it from vinyl regards moldie
  3. Ben Westbeech "Something For The Weekend"
  4. Try again... Happy New Year Everyone....think this ones right on the button
  5. Hi there have to echoe what's been said judging by sales for last year 45's like "joy" ,"to love someone" are selling well and proving popular there's some great new stuff ready with release dates that should rock the modern/nu funk/nu soul world shortly .A lot of people are buying latin tinged modern and outfit's like Setenta and sunlight square are proving popular. With dj's like moldie ect playing total cross the board and it being accepted I think records like Mr.Confuse featuring Elaine Thomas "Why can't you see me " are going to be the way forward especially in alternative rooms at Royce's dayers ect.Happy new year Simon.

  8. Very honorable mentions in dispatches to the following posters.... PETE S for being an absolute inspiration ever since we first started trading posts in the great 'Billy Stewart or Georgie Fame' debate, a number of years ago... WINNIE for a steadying hand on the ship, always a voice of careful thought and reason... DAVE MOORE for taking on the difficult and painstaking role of moderating the political forum and not being afraid of launching perspectives he knows may be challenged vigorously.... NUBES/Dell...For being brave and standing up for what is right...the most important human quality... JIM BARRY for being an absolute gentleman in what he has said in a post in this thread, especially given the ultra passionate nature of the subject we debate! BEARSY, whose posts I truly appreciate...They combine a humorous modesty and honesty, a balanced sense of ration and a great sense of natural comedy relating in particular to aspects of his own personal past experiences and life in general... Thanks to everybody who contributes to the threads, some terrific debates this year, all the best for the next one.... My nomination ultimately is for BEARSY...

  19. You have exquisite taste in music Paul, this is undeniable. You produced a play from which everyone and his Grandmother now aspires to production wise. It was a brilliant 'trip'. The opening words started off great. Until it got to the bit where it slagged off other people for doing the same. Bitter words. Sad words. Like no one else is allowed to produce a 'Northern Soul' memoir. I never went to Wigan, I was too young. But all I hear is about the bogs, the sweat, the smell. I bet it was worth a million times those memories on the dance floor in your own space. It's still like that now, for me.
  20. Just got 2 tickets to see this in Hull in January 2012 Link below if intresed https://www.hulltruck.co.uk/whats-on/main-house?action=view&id=446

  23. Well, I love soul & people say I'm eccentric, so even though I know less than 0 about the artists or releases on this I gave it a go. So glad I did. Listening to it now & loving. Superb sound & packaging; obviously put out by people who care about this music. Highly recommended!
  24. Well done Chalky. You started and finished this good deed. The world needs people like you. Mick
