  1. IT IS OF COURSE MR K. ROBERTS JUST A LITTLE ASIDE THOUGH, IN 1973 MY BEST MATE MOPSEY WAS ACCUSED OF NICKING HIS RECORDS.ANYHOW , ONE F*****G FREEZING TYPICAL NIGHT IN WIGAN, I WAS STANDING ON STATION ROAD WAITING TO GO INTO A POPULAR ALL NIGHT DISCO, WHEN A TALL , STREAK OF P**S WANDERED UP TELLING ME HE WAS OFF TO THE COP SHOP TO RETRIEVE SAID RECORDS. SO I VOLUNTEERED TO ACCOMPANY HIM, WHEREUPON I FOUND MYSELF CHATTING ABOUT ALL SORTS OF SHIT TO WIGANS FINEST FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS (FOOTBALL,BACON & TOM SARNIES,FERRETS, PRICE OF DRIPPING, SOILED UNDERWEAR, FANNIES ETC..,YOU KNOW - OWT!!! ) UNTIL ROBERTS REAPPEARED CLUTCHING HIS NEWLY ACQUIRED SOUNDS FROM S.SOUSAIN. UPON ENTERING THE NIGHTER , WORRIED MATES WERE A BIT SHAKEN THAT I HAD BEEN IN THE LOCAL COP-SHOP FOR THE LAST FEW HOURS. NO WORRIES, I THINK I GOT AWAY WITH IT - WHERES THAT FUCKIN DANCEFLOOR FOR THE NEXT 6 HOURS??!! - CANT BEAT SHEFFIELD OLD SCHOOL EH?, CHRIS

At the very first Cleethorpes all-nighter around 1974, I'd had that much gear that I foolishly entered the dancing competition. I could dance a bit, but no great shakes on the acrobatics front. Needless to say, I looked a right t**t at the side of the others, but I still enjoyed it. The dancing competition has always been part of the scene, its just a great bit of fun. (even if you do look a t**t).

  18. Hi Greg, The Pendulum was a fantastic club, near the Rowntree Sound - a favourite haunt by us from Sheffield circa 73 , before getting the train at Victoria round the corner. Coming out of Victoria on Sunday morning - severely blocked, you couldn't miss the "EL BOSA NOVA CLUB". This was the seediest looking joint this side of Harlem. We used to joke about it being a nighter, it was perfect, dingy and run-down as f**k! One morning an old tart came out, sporting rolled down stockings ala Nora Batty, and black smudged mascara all over her kite, to let the cat in!! What was this joint? Brilliant. Cheers, Chris

  20. Afternoon on the rhino wasn't played the first night. Bubble Gum Breakthro' was the big Mike Post sound at that time, which happened to be on the Fused LP as well as the 45. On that LP was another great track, A.O.T.R., which Kev Roberts picked up on, he wasnt in the original Wigan deejay line-up and played it months later. Cheers, Chris
