  1. Lindy Stevens- Pennygold and Patti and the emblems- love you a long long from floorshakers, were huge favourites for me in 83. My first Kent album, and it led to a lifelong love affair with soul music and dancing for which I am eternally grateful. 2001 records in Ayr was a great wee record shop and the owner was used to us young mods coming in looking for mod stuff. He started stocking the kent LPs from the earliest ones, after we asked about them. Within a few months they had their own section as they were so popular. So many great memories of listening to kent LPs, in after parties up and down the country, with some of the best people I've known. All brilliant albums, but the earliest ones are pretty much ingrained for me, in the correct track order too.
  2. http://www.rockingscots.co.uk/Pakk.htm Some info here from a local Ayrshire site about Drew Galt (as far as I know this was the singers real name). It mentions some soul singers coming up from the US air base at Prestwick, which might be where they heard it first.
