Henry Shed used to make me laugh - made me think of the Monty Python sketch.
  2. I took the Raines version with me to the Saturday afternoon at the Hideaway weekender 2007. Had mentioned it to Bob Morris and Co previously and nobody was aware of its existence at the time. John Kelly and Hoss both had a listen and I guess that its as a result of this that word has got about, though I doubt that many people have actually heard it. I wouldn't go as far as to say its dire but I agree it is not as good as the Herald version. Definitely think its the rarer of the two.
  3. Leon Haywood - Baby reconsider Williams & Watson - It's too late !
  4. That was Robyn. Got a mention on the liner notes for the Kent CD "Big in Wigan" when Ady decided to dedicate each of the tracks to a particular DJ. Robyn got The Gypsies - 'It's a womans world'.
  5. Two records with the same lyrics by Sugar Boy Williams : Little girl take your time - RAINES Little girl - HERALD Is it the RAINES one that you're looking for ?

Ok so what you're saying is........the people who can dance are too old to appear in the film, and the people who are young enough to appear can't dance. Sounds like a bit of a stalemate to me. If the dance scenes are authentic they will be shot in semi darkness which will allow some licence as regards age.......keep them in the background and thirty to forty younger dancers in the forefront - sorted. This film could be a wigmakers dream

Was there too Ken - Keith Minshull announced it - due to slight chemical imbalance couldn't decide whether it was true or some sort of hoax.
  9. Danny Woods - 90 days in the County Jail Just listened to this on a CD to see if I still dislike it as much as I used to. Think I actually dislike it more now - a truly awful record.

2am starts in the early days, and yes we were the 'special ones'... long train journeys (nobody I knew had a car at that time)........... No off the peg fashion...... Baggies made to measure at Burtons/Hepworths, original bowling shirts imported from America and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds. I stopped going after nearly 3 years, just before the third Anniversary, mainly because of the circus that the media turned it into, and the loss (to me anyway) of that 'underground' feeling. It was an exciting and sometimes scary time and quite far removed from the scene that we know today, and I wouldn't give up those memories for anything. It's not something that I attempt to relive every weekend as I believe much of the music is well past its sell by date - my motivation comes from hearing and finding 'new' records and for me its early 60's/RnB that offers most scope in that department and often at reasonable cost. If someone wants to make a film that's loosely based on Northern Soul then that's fine by me, but to turn down the opportunity to make a great film because people who weren't there don't want the input of people who were there.........well, that would be such a shame.

Would imagine there will be no difference in cost whether he gets it right or gets it wrong - so may as well get it right
