Naked Truth The Shing-a-ling Thing Hunters of the RCA Black stock will know full well this Philly instrumental is one of the very tough ones to acquire. When Instrumental was King in the early 70s the Northern Soul scene shook to the full-bodied piano strokes of Leon Huff and Ray Gilmore’s guiding of the brass section which produces an indomitable instrumental that these days would wreck an All-nighter dance-floor with a surprise spin. Proper Northern Soul from a stable that gave us so many killer 60s dance tunes. Demand saw an Orange label 2nd. press in 1974, the PROMO copy occasionally pops up. But as the lusted-after Black Stocker in flawless condition is an envy-piece for all those serious about rarest-formats. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 220.00 Wade Flemons That Other Place Don’t you just love digging for records! We recently found this astonishing pairing. Entombed in it’s un-mailed VEE JAY self addressed envelope for fully 49 years! Discovered at the bottom of box we’ve had hanging around for maybe decades, of course it’s MINT as the mailer was sealed. Can there be a better way of owning this Chicago Big City Beater than this..fully clothed vision of retro-beauty. We think not.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 191.00 Supremes Sing Country Western & Pop Astonishing condition! Perfect vinyl, labels, and cover still retaining the perfect EMI inner sleeve with the “crease-proof” inner. You WILL NOT find a finer copy of this the Supremes RAREST UK album. One for the neurotic about condition and the very serious about UK Tamla Motown! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 61.00 Mixed Feelings Sha-la-la Monster rare-soulful dance, a Keb Darge discovery that leading Northern Soul jock “Butch” first played, with the world renown Soul Sam following on behind, the pair made this 45 one of the biggest rare 70s dance tunes of this century so far. An uplifting dance production that ignores all the commercial “Disco” influences in it’s makeup, lead by a strong and soul male lead (provided by the mysterious Arthur Donaldson) with a buoyant girl group relentlessly delivery a feelgood chorus. So very good you can’t help but want to dance to it.. rare in the extreme and rightly consider a Jewel in the Crown of rare 70s Soul collecting. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,340.00 Brenda Holloway Stay In School What ever the reputation of USA President Nixon at least during his controversial office his “Youth Opportunity Program” provided Northern Soul DJ & Motown collectors with a super-rare 45s to hope to own. Before you today is the hideously rare Brenda Holloway promo only Motown recording “Stay In School” echoing everything we love about Motown, Northern Soul & this songbird’s voice! Maybe a glowing rewrite of Mr. Nixon’s history is in order, remembering - Jimmy Frazier - Of Hopes Dream & Tombstones - was born from the same initiative. But don’t forget this Brenda Holloway disc is 100 or more times rarer than “Jimmy” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 303.00

Ethics I Want My Baby Back Why the hell I’ve listed this out of my collection - I just don’t know. So many collectors have asked me to get them a copy - I thought, hey let’s list it and let it find it’s own level. But I’m already regretting it - I adore all the vocal-group Northern Soul dance tunes and to be honest if this was one of 3 or 4 know copy, I don’t think £5,000 would buy it. Quality,Quality, Quality!! it just reeks of CLASS saturated in everything that drew me into Northern Soul the first place… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 459.00 Ernestine Eady Let's Talk It Over A Philly Northern Soul trophy… sprinkled with Detroit Genius! You are viewing this great labels RAREST most wanted, most valued release. Most probably the company in its infancy were taken by surprise with the huge local success Fantastic Johnny C was about to receive with his debut single “Boo-ga-loo Down Broadway” all releases from 300 to 309 seem to be rare to varying degrees. As the rush to get Johnny C’s follow-up on the streets only 4 releases later. Whatever the reason the “Miami” releases, Imperial C’s etc suffered from lack of promotion with Ernestine’s masterpiece being not only the best but also the very rarest of them all. A former Wigan Casino Richard Searling cover-up that has remained a preposterous want for all Northern Soul collectors for near 4 decades now. After the first two releases of Miami, recordings Phil L.A. Of Soul decided to live up to it’s name and release a Philadelphia recording from “Junior” record label owner Kae Williams who runs with this celebrated Bobby Martin composition to deliver us with a perfect example of girl-vocal Northern Soul. Listen to this stunning mid-tempo groove as it builds and builds to fever pitch; on a wave of Ernestine’s penetrating vocal, embroidered with piano, vibes, blaring horns and Mike Terry’s perfectly timed Bari-tone sax interventions. (Mike would go on to feature on many Cliff Nobles & Fantastic Johnny C. Phil L.A. Soul sessions) It’s Brilliant in the extreme…with proven rarity of near 40 years of Northern Soul archeologists digging, scraping and scouring every corner of the USA in hope of unearthing a copy… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 3,201.00 Mr, Dynamite "sh' Mon" Continuing our delve into the UK SUE section, we feel MOD anthem in it’s full glory in flawless condition will not need any blurbed from us. The label scan, the SUE sleeve, the impeccable condition & the mighty sound file will do all the taking required to irresistibly lure and hook you. Finding a finer copy will prove impossible, finding a better floor-packing MOD instrumental would be a tough task too… Top-of-the-tree British SUE collecting! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 286.00 Lou Courtney The Common Broken Heart Already elevated to must-own status by Soul-DJ extraordinaire Sean Hampsey always a man ahead of the crowd…is this 1974 limited PROMO only press lifted from Lou’s highly-prized Epic album “I’m In Need Of Love” one of the tracks that elusive album is pursued for. This is the only way to own this killer tune as a 7”. Check out the big full-on orchestra intro of blaring horns, vibes and strings, then they all change key and pace, as it takes on a Philadelphia style invitation for the sleek vocal of Mr. Courtney to glide in to. As L.C. takes the microphone the backing adds Hobo’s, flutes, all manner of percussion and a relentless male vocal group chorus; all blended and refined as the crafting of a 5 minutes 30 second maelstrom of SOUL! Utterly gorgeous stuff..no wonder your album Mr. C., is so very sought after - but for the Soul Essence-styled DJ this compact 7” rarity is so much easier to work with and a 100 x rarer. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 119.00

Selling On Ebay.com Question
when you write a description of your record ( or anything else ) put the right postage in big red letters £s & $s on the first line and tell people to always wait for an invoice, most people who buy 45s know the score about postage anyway, i've hardly never had any trouble. just the odd one, joe.

The profits - fantasy of love - “icy Sweet Soul” These 4 are the pick of the 10 tracks released and promoted by Danny Boyd as an outlet fr local talent in L.A. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 46.00 Mod Squad The Love Bug Will Bite You A 1965 Promo only press to promote Gordon’s Jewelers a USA 60’s shop chain. No it doesn’t get much more bizarre than that does it. Coming complete with it’s very rarely seen tick card cover that astonishingly still has the original shrink wrap on it. So check out this weird mid-60s promotion - a fluid “blue-eyed” Northern Soul dancer with strong horn breaks punctuating the upbeat rhythm of this relentless tune that would have done so well during the “white-stomper” peak of Northern Soul @ Wigan Casino or Cleethorpes Pier in during 1975 / 77. Quirky in the extreme.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 59.00 Home Of The Blues # 5 September / Otcober 1966 The really rare Autumn 1966 issue, 32 pages of John E. We think the soundfile the picture and the autograph speak for themselves.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 36.00 Soulmates Sayin' Something The over 55’s will need no extra enticement from us to appreciate the inevitable lure of the 60’s EMI Red & White DEMO! 1966 Mike Vickers project, with many creditable productions under his belt turns his hand to a Bob Crewe composition, that Tracy Dey & co-writer Gary Knight originally recorded on USA Columbia 43693 in the same year. This version hidden away on the flip-side of a drab, forgettable nonentity that sold “nothing” upon release will prick up the ears for those who have a penchant for UK productions. Check out the typical mountain of “Vickers” Brass intro giving way to a strong duet Big City Production ideal for the Northern Soul dancefloor, but regular Wiganites will know that already as “Dey & Knight” received both Wigan Casino & Cleethorpes Winter Gardens exposure. This glorious RED & WHITE DEMO is in flawless condition throughout hugable Mint- in every respect.. Sorry, this item has already been won! Endeavors I Can't Help Crying C/w Beware Of Your Friends A spoiled for choice rarity with both sides giving up the honey.. RARE Cincinnati vocal group Northern Soul rarely witnessed in this flawless condition. This well tutored Ohio harmony vocal group are capable of mixing smooth-lush-vocals into turbulent horns and making it work. Meaty backing rhythm with rogue brass, double-bass and off-key drums igniting a rhythm of dance that all adds up to a very special Northern Soul experience. Flip it over and the Endeavors are far more conventional in their approach, as they pull inspiration from the Impressions, as like glide through the lyrics with effortless class. You may disagree but for me the “Crying” side and all it’s nonconformist instrumental interventions makes it a stand-out tune. And the slick harmonious “Beware” side is exactly that, slick… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 262.00 Various Artists An Album Full Of Soul Beyond- RARE 1965 UK compilation with a track listing of 16 mouthwatering Amy/Mala/Bell beauties on one album. How rare? Well this is my first copy in memory and the track listing has got me wondering why I’ve never listed or heard anyone talk about this LP before. Check this the sample out: Brooks O’Dell - You better make up your mind Freeman Brothers - I’m Counting On You Eddie Billups - My Faith In You (will Never Die) Pearl Woods - Something touched Me Titus Turner - I’m A Member Of The club Gladys Knight & pips - Stop & Get A hold Of Myself Big Dee Irwin - You satisfy My Needs I could have gone on and on listing all 16 as there is not a bad track on the album and fully 9 were not released UK release as a 45. More than just a very rare album, this carries an unrivaled track listing, and is in immaculate condition, factory PROMO sticker on label, light crease on front cover bottom right. Otherwise perfect! Now listen to the extremely impressive sample soundfile… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 165.00 Impressions Ridin' High - 6 Track Ep Car lover’s will be noting the cover with Curtis is sitting on a Shelby/AC Cobra and Sam and Fred are sitting on Corvette Stingrays, as a possible eye-catching wall-hanger; But for the Soul Boys who love their wheels you get much more than that. 6 tracks of Curtis Mayfield genius.. Ridin’ High - although the title of the successful Album that this comes from never came out as a 45 and this is the only way to get this superb track on 7” No One Else I Need A Love - The track listing shows track 3 side one as “I Need A Love” but it is in fact the brilliant “I Need You” - surely the groups greatest ever finger snapping NS grooves. Too Slow That’s What Mama Say - a big NS tune for Walter Jackson - again this is the only way to get on 7” I’m A Telling You - release as a 7” 45 for Jerry Butler but not by The impressions For the O.C.D. Pop art-loving amongst you are spying a pristine and complete 1966 7” Jukebox Mini EP that retains fully 5 Jukebox title tabs, 2 x miniature cover replicas and a 6 track disc with a card sleeve that has certainly never seen jukebox. Fabulous piece of Soul-history, art and a killer piece of Premiership Chicago vocal-group music. Extra in-depth info courtesy of Chris Frost - Leicestershire crate-diggin’-vinyl-pioneer and discoverer of George Blackwell - Can’t Lose My Head in Blaby, Leics. back in 1971. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 47.00 Jimmy Robins I Just Can't Please You C/w I Made It Over The Jerhart MONSTER - mellowed, smoothed and subtly revamped without losing any of it’s potency. Still Jimmy’s charming snarl pleases the ear, whilst those horny horns whisk you up, straight into dancefloor mode. A longer 2.30 version that strangely changes writer credits to Bill Horton (of the Silhouettes) Flipside, originally a wonder Deep Soul ballad is also given a makeover to make it an even better, would you believe? Listen to both songs on by far the rarest of it’s label variations and in a form that many believe is an improvement on what was already a perfect Northern Soul & Deep Soul offering! Utterly RARE in this form! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 133.00

Tiny Topsy Just A Little Bit Oooh listen to that lady shake her stuff…and how! This is Sister-R&B at it’s most convincing - not-so Tiny Topsy whips up a total dance atmosphere with her authoritative-barking, howling, snarling ever-changing vocal-pitch; supported by a blend of shrill-chorus backing - peppered by a crazy flutist! The effect is dramatic! this is irresistible Northern soul R&B that will literally like a pair of wild horses drag you to join the dancefloor stampede! A few light surface marks but as you can hear plays just destructively LOUD! and Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 322.00 Walter Wilson Love Keeps Me Crying C/w Not Now But Later THE MAGIC OF WAND A much-coveted label that has supplied the Soul collectors with literally 100’s of releases to consider. Also within it’s catalog are some inexplicably rare 45s that never enjoyed release or distribution. Before you today is one of Wand’s bewitchingly rare trophies; a Billy Jackson project with Tommy Keith that gives up two sides of Northern Soul bliss. Topside is a typically “Sassy” Northern Soul dancer with Billy flexing his writing and producing muscle to great effect and Tommy Keith’s impressive vocal adding depth and style. Flip it over and your treated to “Beat Ballad Heaven”. You are listening to two sides to-die-for, that only a handful of collectors can boast of owning. And I know for certain at least two of the very few known copies are cracked, this copy is perfect! Rare Wand 45s are inexplicablely impossible to acquire..this is without question not only one of the very rarest but also one of the best - twice over! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,117.00 Dee Dee Sharp What Kind Of Lady Here’s one for the Northern Soul White Demo scholar. Dee Dee Sharp’s Northern Soul classic it’s least seen and most attractive promo format. The West Coast “Card” design logo is so seldom seen. Click the soundfile to appreciate the huge Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff production that was to be the catalyst in 1968 for the embryonic orchestral driven “Sound Of Philadelphia” that would take the music-world by a storm from 1970 onwards.. Classic Northern Soul is a totally alluring form.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 174.00 Mickie Champion What Good Am I (without You) C/w The Hurt Still Lingers On Musette Records the brief Logan Avenue, San Diego project is some-what the “Shrine” of Southern California. With all it’s releases being highly regarded, seldom seen and much-sought-after. This is the best known of them all, not most most-valuable but certainly after reaching giddy-heights of monster-status simultaneously at Wigan Casino & Cleethorpes Pier this raucous Sister-Stomper is rightly considered a true Northern Soul classic. Very few girl vocal Northern Soul 45s pack a punch like Micki does and to compliment this lady’s potency, Sonny Craver and Otis Hayes build a driving production with a wall of horns blaring loud, right up there jostling with Micki screams and squeals of enthusiasm to cap it all a crazy-mad Sax-break to end all sax-breaks. But it doesn’t end there, flip it over Sonny & Otis again conjure up a production to knock you dead, BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN gives you relief from the frantic a-side. As a dreamy Micki will have you falling for her more controlled, utterly expressive anguish voice, as she convinces with her pain.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 412.00

Tony Washington Summer's Gone If you want to spend a refreshing evening listening to some of the greatest mid-tempo records ever made - visit and join the Facebook page that goes under the very apt name of “BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN”. Some of the postings on there underline the impeccable taste of it’s members. This obscurity is one of literally 100s that have at last been given a long overdue chance of some recognition that otherwise may not have happened. That is where I first heard this obscure Tony Washington recording, with it’s swirling hammond setting the scene for a moody male vocal to croon his way into your heart. Popcorn production cradles his “haunting-cowboy” stye vocal that you find becomes infectious. A record who’s primitive approach is actually it’s charm, charmed enough for you to take a serious look at BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN and the 1000’s of other mesmerizing goodie it gives up at the click of a mouse? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 89.00 Various Artists The Sue Story Volume 2 The Rare 1965 UK SUE compilation and the rarest in the series of 3. Beside the inspired track listing, I’m personally drawn to the iconic cover with Guy Stevens again in sultry pose with his beloved 45s. The driving force behind the UK Sue label, who met a tragic end to his life in 1981 @ the tender age of 38. But this LP sleeve and it’s music will surely live on forever! Labels & vinyl are flawless. Front cover has a few light laminate creases (see scan) back cover is totally clean. Tough album to acquire especially in this condition! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 58.00

Escorts All We Need Is Another Chance George Kerr & Bert Keyes takes their skills to Rahway State Prison, New Jersey to record this 1973 vocal-group experience! For seekers of rare decidedly superior soul, will delight in this precisely crafted creation. Producers by George Ker & Bert Keyes guide an incarcerated 9 man harmony gathering through some of the finest soul-group vocal-performances ever recorded. Listen as the duo lets them lose on the O’Jays masterpieces like “Look Over Your Shoulder” “I’m So Glad I Found You” “I’ll Be Sweeter Tomorrow” down-right sublime sweet-soul of the highest calibre. For the O C D about condition this 40 year old is STILL SEALED! Soundfiles were lifted from an previously excellent copy! Condition or Sweet Soul does not get any better than this. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 99.00 Topics Hey Girl (where Are You Going?) C/w If Love Comes Knockin' CHADWICK RECORDS part of the legendary CARNIVAL Records of 350 Chadwick Avenue, Newark, New Jersey. A company who built a huge East Coast reputation for quality Soul music recordings and a penchant for the vocal-group sound. This 45 was an off-shoot of the label aptly christened Chadwick but sadly only ever releasing two 45s the other by The Metrics is an equally enthralling Northern Soul dancer. This the second release though, is the jewel of the whole company. Rare in the extreme and offering not one but two examples of ultra-sophisticated harmony Northern Soul. “Hey Girl” has for decades been a favourite with collectors and the occasionally DJ turntable outing is always met with ripples of applause. But at the moment for me the overlooked flipside is every note, if not better than the well known “A”. “Love Comes Knockin’” is now coming through in DJ sets, more powerful, upbeat & instant Northern Soul session but puzzlingly passed by until recently. TWO KILLER TUNES on one very elusive disc! and this offering could not be in better condition. A collection file copy with little or no signs of human contact. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 590.00 Kenny Gamble & The Romeos Ain't It Baby A special listing just in case over the years you’d forgotten what proper-real-deal Northern Soul sounds like! Click the soundfile to unleashed a Tsunami of thumping 60s dance soul from the Crowned Prince of The Philadelphia Sound! A collaboration of Jimmy Bishop & Kenny Gamble ignites a studio-stamina that you can’t help but want to dance to. A typical “Dynodynamics” production running on high-energy-horns, soaring vocal-group ooohs and arrrhs a then chanting girl-group (The Honey Bees) assist the under-recorded rasping growl of the man himself. The production builds and builds up to a head-spinning crescendo, surely inducing fearless dack-drop antics..spins & handclaps. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL - PROPER NORTHERN SOUL!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 151.00 Memphis Nomads Don't Pass Your Judgement C/w I Wanna Be (lover & Your Honey) In the 7 years partnership with Atlantic Records this is the ONLY Stax release NOT to be distributed by Atlantic. It seems most all big labels have oddities, strange releases that never seemed to have received the usual company promotional effort and today remain the rarest 45s those labels ever made. So let’s discuss Stax 243 a special 1968 press distributed by “The Memphis & Shelby County Chapter Of The March Of Dimes” a charity raising money for good causes. So presumably Stax pressed this rarity for charity only purposes. What ever the reason in 1968 a real-rarity was born - check out the potent sound file offering Memphis Northern Soul complete with Booker T. style hammond intro, that suddenly exploding to collide with a defiant vocal “Outsiders” style dancer driven to the outer-limits with a punchy instrumental break, adding quality to this relentless stomper. Flip it over, and strangely charity is overlooked when the “Nomads” do a version of the Manhattans classic “I Wanna Be” and fail to credit writer William Lovett, giving all the honors to the A-side writers Ernest W. Hall & Charles F. Weaver. A massive hole in all but the most-complete Stax collections and yet to make it’s Northern soul turntable table! RARE, odd? but darn good.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 70.00

Northern Noise Number 1 Number 1 October 1979 Rare 32 page “Special Tribute” to Six Years of Wigan Casino. A Special 1979 2 Roger St. Pierre MOD REVIVAL article with great scooter pics. Richard Searling on the road with Edwin Starr 2 page article including Richard’s TOP 25 tunes of the day (lots of imaginative cover-up names) not just the very limited distribution of this tidy booklet has left it becoming a major “Wigan Casino” collectable, but also the captivating information that lies within makes this an essential reference point. Go to my FACEBOOK page for a closer look inside and a full list of Richard’s cover-ups! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 31.00 Uptown Syndicate Uptown C/w You're A Woman A double edged soul rarity offering a stand-out horn propelled FUNK, on one side and a diabetes inducing Sweet Soul harmony ballad for the flip. Oddly born in the soul music and vinyl desert of Oklahoma City, this ground level production speaks volumes for the street-level talent secreted away in some of the most unexpected places. A session that could just as easily have been crafted in Compton, Watts or The South side of Chicago as it oozes that primitive angst only a ghetto recordings transmit. Top side is a horn and keyboard mix of dance funk, featuring some highly skilled trumpet and horn work of the standard you associate with teams like Brass Construction, Fat Back Band or individuals like Eddie Henderson, Freddie Hubbard etc. this really is a compelling and highly accomplished session. Flip it over for pleading ballad of regret, with a sorrow filled lead drifting through a sauntering horn and lazy hammond; the sharp chorus harmony is lifted to greatness when a chilly falsetto gatecrashes proceedings.. Two sides proving, Oklahoma or Compton if you got real SOUL it matters not where your roots are.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 71.00 Various Artists R&b Chartmakers Vol. 4 The very last Tamla Motown Stateside Chartmakers EP in the series of 4. Containing the one of two Stateside outings for Eddie Holland and his penultimate recording before he stopped releasing 45’s to concentrate on writing and producing. Eddie Holland’s - Just Ain’t enough Love - is a superb example of Motown Northern Soul underlining the loss to us when he put down his mike. This 1964 British EP is unique to these shores, with the series in the end designed by EMI to introduce the less obvious acts and recordings to the British public. This copy is in fine flawless Excellent + condition throughout, hard to acquire as clean as this copy is. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 85.00 The Flamingos The Boogaloo Party Recently I’ve spent many hours reading 60s Soul Fanzine’s & magazines and it’s not until you do, that the under 60 Soul collector realizes how important the all-night clubs of the 60s in molding the future that was to become Northern Soul. To have this 45 in 1966 was the ultimate prize, almost simultaneously released and deleted only the hippest and top DJ’s could boast ownership. The huge demand created from club plays, had people traveling far & wide to The Twisted Wheel, Mojo, Nite Owl, Beechcomber etc. Philips UK quickly caught on and re-issued it on numerous occasion through the next two decades. Notably on Philips BF1786 in 1969 which sparked a Boogaloo revival, I can remember King Edward VII school dance with Joyce Bond - Do The Teasy and “Boogaloo Party” sending 15 & 16 year old into raptures. Good night that was, I thought I’d scored with the most gorgeous girl in the school… but no, there was Keith Coggles wrapped in his Parka posing on his Vespa ready and waiting outside to whisk her off into the sunset. So I turned vinyl that never disappoints.. note this is the THREE prong so rarely seen ORIGINAL 1966 press! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 75.00

Depths Of Love Ain't You Got Time No More C/w I Just Can't Find A Love Rare girl group 45 offering two fabulously sexy tunes. The side we’ve led with is the flip - an upbeat dance tune with a pleading lead supported by a constant shrill harmony backing from her backing Sisters. The quavering lead begs to hear the words she wants to hear, but she realizes he “Ain’t Got Time No More” for her love. Weaving painfully soulful lyrics into a dance tune is no easy feat, but producer Geno Whitaker does it in fine street-level style, oozing with primitive genius. Flip it over for the Sweet Soul offering of the week. A sexy, sexy soul-stepper on which the girls take their act to another level. The hurting lead vocal again expresses herself to a level of emotion that will have you transfixed for her next line of her pain, accentuated by those backing girls, so slick, so smooth without a primitive note in the whole session - this the sweeter side is CLASS! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 210.00 Eddie Daye & The 4 Bars Guess Who Loves You C/w What Am I Gonna Do SHRINE TIME! Another stand-out Carl Kidd & Harry Bass collaboration with one of Washington’s D.C. premier vocal groups, who actually answered a newspaper advert Shrine placed to audition local talent. This their only Shrine release but failed to register sales but all was not lost at failure inspired Eddie reactivate his 1962 enterprise the DAYCO label in 1967. Today this like most all other SHRINE 45s release #112 is considered an highly prized platter offering not one but two fine Northern Soul sides. The all important label is flaw-free, both sides of the vinyl are clean, play beautifully and only reveal insignificant light surface marks in strong light. Label is Ex+ vinyl visually is Excellent plays Ex+ SHRINE! who can resist it… Sorry, this item has already been won! If your purpose in life is to amass the Northern Soul classics in their rarest form THE PROMO and in the finest possible condition, do not pass by; a neater copy may never appear on the market again. For me this 45 has two highly desirable features. Eye-watering memories of cutting my dancing-teeth inside Nottingham’s, Brit club circa 1970, as the mid-tempo groove was more forgiving of my limited understanding of rhythm and movement. Not just me, but doesn’t everyone adore an over 40 in perfect condition…I know I do.. Sorry, this item has already been won! Anthony White Yes You Need Love C/w I'm So Much In Love With You The hideously rare STOCK copy offering the TWO good sides.Lifted from highly prized P.I.R International album “Could It Be Magic”. Surprisingly the Crowned Princesses of the Philadelphia Sound were not involved in this lush production. Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff leave it to Sherman Marshall and team to raise the already lofty bar of the Philly Sound. The dance side just screams “Soul Essence” as an easy piano is swept aside by a zinging harp, a bank of strings and a purring vocal group. Anthony White’s vocal glides through this luxurious production on a wave of assistance. Just so-darn good..i think I’m in love! Flip it over the ballad side, more “Soul Essence” material that begs for an outing in that temples chill-out room, but just as it lulls you into a warm shawl of soul contentment, the production lifts a pace into a Soulful stepper of pure excellence. Too much! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 75.00 Dinah Washington Soulville A lure of the Red & White DEMO strikes again. Here’s one for the British collector who’s hit that frustrating brick a wall of owning the obvious NS Brit releases and awaiting something unusual to come to market. This raucous Titus Turner R&B hipshaker, is detonated by one of the last century’s great Jazz-Sisters. Dinah takes on a Ray Charles persona and rips her way through this big band brass production with sax breaks to knock you dead. Dinah in Big Mamma style just tears the off off the place.. Killer R&B in it’s very rarest and most-desirable clothes.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 49.00

Jimmy Mcfarland Lonely Lover One for the collectors who seek Northern Soul classics., in their rarest most desirable outfits. Checkout this colourful seldom seen STOCK copy of Steve Benson and Wayne Martin’s reworking of the Marvin Gaye Motown unissued session. Simultaneously, a monster play at Cleethorpes and Wigan Casino at the height of the scene, remaining a dancefloor-darling ever since. But a record that does not suffer from over-exposure, the occasional airing is just enough to keep this sounds popularity simmering away. Being outnumbered perhaps 100 to 1 by the WHITE DEMO - this stock copy looks just-gorgeous doesn’t it… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 300.00 Moments Pray For Me Listen to 60’s sweet soul at it’s smoothest. The Moments first recorded before embarking on a sparkling career with Sylvia Robinson & the All Platinum label they cut this 1965 Washington D.C. serving sweet soul! This record started life as a Baltimore Howard University project with 4 dorm pals forming the HOG label Fonce & Larry Mizell, with the now “lauded” Freddie Perren & Uni-business brain Toby Jackson, ironically as a Detroiter Toby manage to seal a distribution deal through Wheelsville. All efforts for radio play, wider distribution proved fruitless and this record fell into obscurity. The rare stock copy, managed cult-status with the Northern Soul scene. And this single sided promo received similar appreciation with the harmony vocal-group scholars. This “Four Pigs” creation is in immaculate, flawless condition Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 58.00 Carl Douglas Serving The Sentence Of Life If you could take a time machine and make a quick visitation into the British club scene of 1972. It was buzzing from the influx of USA soul discoveries courtesy of the Bradford market vinyl-avalanche and some amazing 60s British release discoveries that were hitting the turntables of Va Va’s, The Catacombs, Blackpool Mecca, Leeds Central etc. Lynne Randell on CBS, Jimmy Thomas on Parlophone, Fathers Angels on MGM all sparked market stall & junk shop mania as hoards of “soulies” trawled the vinyl-remnants of previously discarded 45s. I remember that period, the buzz was at it loudest, you couldn’t wait for the next Saturday night to hear what was new. I do remember quite vividly this tune entering my life with a wallop! At The Catacombs; the stroll from the door past the shady bare brick alcoves with 50 count record boxes offering vinyl-treasures to who ever had the inclination to look.. but most headed straight to the end of the narrow walk through toward the ever increasing volume of Northern Soul. SMACK! Those blaring horns of “Serving The Sentence Of Life” hit me…I was hooked for life..imagine my eagerness on Monday lunch time scouring A. T, Brown’s, Ainleys, the junk shop & the market stalls of Leicester after hearing it was an ENGLISH release. I can confess now, 41 years on - I have never ever found a copy of this 45 whilst “junkin”..and even if I had that “Time Machine” I very much doubt I’d find a copy either. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 236.00 Unknown Artist Young Girl (mellow-feznecky) C/w Mother's Love Help wanted: with this gathering who smooth out the Jimmy Jones & Jerry Murray’s composition - Mellow-Fezneckey -. . Uncredited Chicago acetate giving up two fabulous “Impressions” inspired Northern Soul dancers with no information on the label, so we’ll credit it as “unknown”. But the sound this disc emits isn’t “unknown” it is instant Northern Soul of the most-infectious kind.. Much more rounded take of the Dukays version - no rough or raw edges to interrupt the flow, but still beautiful in it’s primitiveness. Guitar and horns intro is met with a soaring harmony buzz. Then a raw and emotional falsetto takes over the lead and this winner twists, turns and bumps it’s way into one very tight-tune! Flip it over and your treated to a different flip than the Jerry-O 106 Dukays release. With mystery group taking a slsnt of Curtis Mayfield’s “Never Too Much Love” onto a different level. Strong horns, tight coolly delivered harmony and again that falsetto steals the show with a lengthy instrumental break adding depth and grit to an oh so smooth session! Two killer tunes, we await any other extra information of this group and their recordings. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 150.00

For over four decades the popularity of this Twisted Wheel son, has grown and grown rising from British & USA failure to become an anthem! When you see it, you like us will be undecided whether to drop a needle on it or hug, kiss and file it again! Perfection is priceless… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 159.00 Betty Wright Open The Door To Your Heart Speak to any Wigan Casino regular who was the best act they witnessed at Wigan Casino, most without hesitsation will say the veracious Betty Wright and her band. She ripped the roof of the place. Like Major Lance at the Torch - the act was far bigger than the club, the time and her material of that era. She was immense, with her stage presence on the night a memory no one present will ever forget. Today before you is a 1976 session, with Ms. Wright’s boundless energy injected into a Northern Soul classic, which she revolutionizes into a Sister-Stomper. ONLY ISSUED AS A 45 IN ITALY - in an eye-catching Picture sleeve. So no struggling with low-volume LP tracks - get Betty where she belongs - loud, upfront and full in your face. Instant Sister-Northern Soul at it’s most-potent. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 84.00 Chuck Jackson Teardrops Keep Falling On My Heart Berry Gordy’s Motown machine spread it’s insatiable thirst for talent far and wide. As it started to sign the country’s best vocalists to the label in the late 60s. Chuck Jackson was one of the first captures, and what a snaring this was. Chuck booming vocal decorated with Motown’s orchestral genius made for some of the label’s most-powerful music. Check out the selected sound-file from this 1970 album, we’ve chosen the tracks that failed to achieve 45 release and we think you’ll be more than moved. Jaw-dropping Northern Soul just begging for an inspirational DJ. Before you is an utterly pristine and stupidly rare WHITE PROMO copy! Perfect cover, labels and vinyl! Just to underline Motown’s slick corporate promotional machine not only did they trawl for the finest talent - they also plugged into anything that was “hip” at the time; with “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” the top movie of the time, why not do a twist with the movie’s theme tune and christen the lp “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Heart”. After saying all that Chuck was a comparative flop for the label, and this his last album of 3 for Motown was a sales failure too. Sometimes genius, salesmanship and presentation are just not enough.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 77.00 Carol Anderson Sad Girl C/w I'll Get Off At The Next Stop For an utterly biased opinion on this lady & this her finest recording, just ask me! ..as I just fall to pieces when hear this under-recorded Detroit Diva sing. “Sad Girl” drips with those feminine qualities that makes a grown-up “Soul Boy” melt by far my favourite recording by this great lady, and the flipside is so nearly as good. Owning this as the unique in-house 10” UK RCA studio acetate, we think is really the ultimate acquisition for this killer song! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 58.00

Dee Dee Sharp Let's Twine C/w (that's What) My Mama Said Things on the Northern Soul scene can shift from sleeper to monster almost overnight. For years now “(That’s What) My Mama Say” has rightly been regarded as a fine example of non-hit Philly Northern Soul that quietly graced imaginative early doors sets, but has always been tough to acquire. But popular music-styles on the Northern Soul scene constantly change direction, pace and genre. So step forward the meaty R&B Sister groove that has slept on the flipside almost unnoticed for near 50 years. A tune that takes Dee Dee out of her ladylike poise transforming her into the red-hot mistress of dance-craze! Dee Dee massages Barry Mann & Pete Appell’s lyrics to such great effect the urge to dance just overcomes you. Stand-out sax break, brazen bass guitar rhythm, Dee Dee’s sexy, sexy vocal and succulent girls cooing away in the background, oh how irresistible is this. How this has taken until 2012 to receive turntable action of any significance is beyond belief. Now watch it go……………… Sorry, this item has already been won! Clyde Mcphatter This Is Not Goodbye + 3 The interest and respect for this revered artist could not be stronger with Soul collector tan it is right now, as magazine articles, You Tube, Facebook and forums give us access and realization of the full extent of this man’s extreme vocal talents. little wonder Jackie Wilson considered Clyde McPhatter as the greatest influence of his singing career! You are currently looking at the extremely scarce 1960 4 track UK EP with fully laminated front and back sleeve! Tracks include: 1. One Right After Another 2. Take A Step 3. Know That Feeling 4. This Is Not Goodbye Seldom comes the market the serious Soul Scholar or UK addict will see this this as a seldom seen window of opportunity! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 40.00 Blues & Soul # 2 November 1967 In less than a 18 month John Abbey evolved the Home Of The Blues “stapled together” Bedroom fanzine into a glossy leafed Blues & Soul as they move to 100 Angel House, Woolmer Road, London to take this venture seriously; as early as #2 professionalism had taken over to produce an impressive soon to be the most important Soul Music publication in the world. The winning bid was £ 27.00 Jimmy Armstrong Mystery C/w I'm About To Say Goodbye SHRINE TIME It is now common knowledge that we have recently been privileged and somewhat humbled to be able to offer, handle & film the SHRINE label in it’s entirety. Whilst doing so the most-significant thing you notice is the vast difference between the label shades, condition and fragility. SHRINE in their wisdom re-designed the label from their first 2 releases. Into an irresistible “electric” blue background with the esteemed red flame. Unfortunately the years often takes it’s toll on this beautiful label with fade to the blue, ring wear of the ridge, flake to the hand glued labels or worse a label or both have fell off and missing. This listing of SHRINE 102 the very first release to wear the inspired design shows-off the label in it’s full glory, avoiding daylight and only receiving minimal handling; this copy was obviously used as a promo mail out has it caries two light biro X’s on the flipside. Our point is - surely the growing band of dedicated SHRINE hunters next ambition to to own SHRINE with the labels and vinyl as fine as it is humanly possible to find. We can assure NOBODY in the world owns Shrine 45s with the same shade of Electric Blue - i believe this will become the collectors most-challenging quest. A good starting point would be # 102 and we have 2 other titles in similar “unfaded condition” so out of the whole run only 3 titles remained near to their original colouring. Food for thought…? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 300.00 Bob & Earl Harlem Shuffle Without doubt Chris Blackwell biggest sales success during this “Trophy” labels short lifespan. Quickly becoming a club & MOD anthem, in fact the country’s # one dancefloor tune of 1965 cementing the already strong curiosity with USA Soul music. This Los Angeles creation bristled with every ingredient for the UK fan to dance to. It was quickly deleted to spawn various “Island” re-issues over the following years. and now synonymous with revival Club & Motown nights billed as “Harlem Shuffle” evenings! But before you today is something very different, very rare and to the serious British release Soul collector very, very desirable. This is the 1965 British DEMO of this timeless classic and to be honest I cannot remember seeing one before. Both labels are flawless, a-side label sports the all-important highly-coveted rubber-stamped “A”. Vinyl is neat, clean and -plays perfectly, all this comes enveloped in it’s original SUE mid-60s grease-proof finish paper sleeve that so many of the companies 45s where put into. Miracles Shop Around L1 (1) Mix C/w Who's Loving You One of Soul Music’s milestones! Motown’s very first #1 hit. Berry Gordy, the incurable perfectionist was not completely happy with his collaboration with Smokey Robinson on the first mix, allegedly called the whole session team back to the studios for several retakes. The rest is history, the first smash-hit that gave Motown the cash-flow to invest in further productions, material and acts a springboard that created USA’s most successful independent label of the 60s. What would the future have held - if Berry had an “That’ll Do” attitude, we may wonder. Before you today is ARP stamped L1 (1) mix as the remarkably RARE PROMO copy, in just astonishing condition! VINYL is not a hardly a blemish, only sleeve contact brushes can be detected in strong light on the flipside vinyl - A-side vinyl is “as good as it gets” LABELS matrix H-55518-A-1 text. Other than the promo-man’s “play side” indicating “X” they are both perfect. A disc for not only for the Motown obsessives but also all collectors drawn to historical groundbreaking 45s in the standard of condition that you see, on only very, very rare occasions. This 45 is actually the finest copy of it’s type I’ve ever experienced! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 71.00 Anita Anderson Little Bit Longer C/w Secretly Talking a luscious lady vocals this week, check out this double helping of seriously rare Chicago Northern Soul from the desk of the great Barry Despenza. Glorious in it’s primitive structure but as with all Mr. Despenza’s creations subtle extra’s lift a street-level production into greatest. Anita’s provocative lead vocal is nourished by discreet male harmony vocal backing that perfectly melt into the simplistic but highly effective instrumentation. This is 60s Chicago Soul in it’s purist state! Light surface marks, but as you can hear it plays clean, clear & true on BOTH sides! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 661.00 Music City Two In One Snag Nasty C/w Silly Song Without question “Music City” was and still is the most talked-about California label of all-time. Probably down to it’s larger-than-life entrepreneurial owner Ray Dobard who over 3 decades produced and released top Doo-Wop rarities in the 50s, great Soul in the 60s and some outrageously sweet soul and funk in the early 70s. This 45 falls into the last era, the era which saw the demise of Music City as a musical source, the closing of the label, The record shop and the closing of the doors to vinyl-Aladdin’s Cave warehouse which would in the next century erupt the greatest “soul” find in the history of collecting. Interestingly in that find of 250,000 45s in there was hardly a copy of “Snag Nasty” to be found. So funk guys be rest assured, there may have been 300 copies of The Young Brothers (not) but I personally only acquire a solitary copy of this punchy Bay Area attitude driven Funk groove, and that one left the building almost 10 years since. Still elusive and still high-sought, long after the “Dobard” find.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 33.00 Hector Rivera I Want You I Needed You I Love You C/w Sweet Soul Baby Latino sweet soul ballads just “do it” for me. Artists like Ralphi Pagan can do no wrong and Hector Rivera is a man with a cultured feeling for the music. So check out this 45 that has been a favourite of mine for decades. Sweet harmony vocal-group soul doesn’t get any better. With the talented Hector writing, arranging & producing this slick 4.22 seconds of sheer delight. You want a more meaty Hector experience, flip it over “Sweet Soul Baby” will sweep your mind away from love & desire right into dance floor shakin’! Two great sides one very elusive disc!
