Eddie Foster I Never Knew THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL That the growing army of discerning NS Collectors will thoroughly appreciate. This example of a Bay Area timeless classic is flawless! Two gleaming labels and vinyl that only reveals a sleeve contact blemish in strong light. So very, very hard to acquire in this astonishing state. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 561.00 Rhythm & Soul Rhythm & Soul # 2 - May 1st 1966 Dear friend & swinger this seriously rare fanzine from May 1966 is the 2nd in Dave Godin's series of documenting soul in 1966. Covers an in-depth story &great photo of the "Go Now" Bessie Banks includes Larry Banks exposure Sam & Bill pic. Dee Warwick pic & Bio. UK SUE advert. all the usual 1966 "records received" reviews. Sam & Dave picture and review, plus of course the usual high quality content of Dave Godin views and comment. Rare in the extreme our first copy this century. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 15.00 Dorsey Burnette Jimmy Brown Continuing our weekly British Tamla Motown rarity listing, this exceptionally rare piece, will draw attention from the Red & White TMG devotee. EMI in the autumn of 1965 had a moment of naive madness releasing two consecutive "non-Soul" 45s TMG 553 & TMG 534 neither sold a bean. EMIwere to never again repeat this disastrous marketing faux pas. But they did create two of the toughest TMG500 series 45s to secure. This Red & White has two flaw-free label - vinyl has only the very lightest of surface blemishes - plays perfectly and looks so alluring in it's orange wavy-top jacket! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 87.00

Albert Washington And The Kings I'm The Man C/w These Arms Of Mine Currently causing jams on the NS dance floors all over the UK, this is an R&B romp with few equals. But how many of the DJ's championing this torrent of soul play it from a 1968 UK press. Let alone - a flawless DEMO The ultimate way to own this dancers favourite. Go on show off a little... Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 178.00 Major Lance The Rhythm Of Major Lance This great man's only 60s British LP release, that surprisingly was NOTISSUED in the USA. 1965 British press has a totally unique track listing, utilizing a mixture of his pre-1965 recordings. The Major of course rose from obscurity to become theKING of the British Soul scene, which hit it's peak in Dec. 9th. 1972 @ Stoke on Trent when his live "Torch" performance is still considered the greatest event ever, on the Northern Soul scene. In 1965 he was to the Brit an relative unknown and this album sold NOTHING! To find it in this sublime condition is a goose-pimple inducing moment. Vinyl and label are flawless, still retains the original lined inner sleeve. The only tiny small flaw is on the back cover, bottom middle of the flip-back seam has a tiny sticker removal tear - NOT a split. Insignificant as the rest is gleaming eye-popping. A Sensational copy! A Historical album of the rarest kind! Front cover says it all. The track listing includes non-45 killer Curtis Mayfield creations like 1. Gotta Right To Cry 2. It's All Right...plus classics like "Rhythm" "The Monkey Time" etc etc. Is there a more desirable "Old School" British release Soul album...we think not! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 202.00 Herb Ward Strange Change A team of Philadelphia boys get together to create a yet another Northern Soul anthem. Jimmy Bishop, Johnny Stiles & Luther Randolph craft a potent mid-tempo that would rattle the pillars of Cleethorpes Pier every Saturday night in the mid-70s. A Philly powerhouse - that sounds even better today than it did back then. This RARE 1965 PROMO is immaculate, in fact perfect expect for a light surface brush on the flipside vinyl. Which reminds me - do not overlooked the Kenny Gamble composition on the flipside - a mighty blend of Herb and an uncredited male vocal group. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 361.00 John Bowie A Fool I Would Be C/w I Never Felt So Lonely For those of you always looking outside of the Rare-Soul-Box. Here's a very seldom seen beauty that could effortlessly rise into the upper price brackets, with a minimum of exposure. Obscurity is the only thing preventing this sublime mid-tempo from entering the sets of cross-ver orientated DJs. With the Soul Essence, Great Yarmouth pilgrimage only weeks away, we think this would turn a few heads on a wet Saturday afternoon connoisseurs set. A strong Chin-scratchers choice in their quest for the overlooked and rare, as both sides delivered the goods. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 84.00

Lloyd Williams In Love With You On it's rare 1970 UK Bamboo 41 release this is a very highly sought-after 45.NOTE that release is soften-slightly by an additional string section. Before you today is the meatier original, rawer Jamaican release that gets right under your skin. Primitive but punchy backing track is lifted by an echoing male vocal group, then drawing from Jackie Edward's style productions, an ear-piercing girl group joins the session. From "the Streets" of Kingston, this mid-pace crossover delight just drips with SOUL. A piano rhythm keeps the shuffling pace, going harmony vocals from both the gents & the ladies and they just nail it. Jamaican SOUL at it's very best that could have just as easily been created @ Muscle Shoals. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 181.00 Jimmy Lloyd Call On Me For those British Soul foragers here's an undocumented and stupidly RAREEnglish "Jamaican" take on the Bobby Bland classic! It never ceases to amaze, just how many great 60s 45s sneaked out without being noticed until decades later. If you're a UK Soul rarity completest - I betcha you got tis one missing. Incredibly rare and in "as new" condition - the highly coveted and rarely seen genuine MINT grade. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 62.00 Jackson Sisters I Believe In Miracles Perhaps the most vibrant 70s pre-disco girl vocal 45 ever made. It's an electric dance floor detonator! As a "perfect" 1973 UK DEMO it is one seriously tough acquisition. Condition, condition, condition! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 54.00 Two Plus Two Look Around C/w I'm Sure You are viewing one of the rarest and finest double hitting slabs of Detroit Northern Soul ever created. VELGO is of course a Detroit Trophy label - but we have had in our lifetime of dealing soul dealt with over 10 copies of the Gwen Owens single, compared to this ONE lone copy of this total killer. Click the double-sound file and experience RAREST OF THE RARENORTHERN SOUL at it's most-awesome! Only Eddie Parker's - I'm Gone - has moved me as much this rebellious Motor City masterpiece does. Vinyl has some light surface marks but as you can hear on the compelling soundfile if plays loud clean and true. I personally know of the existence of only 5 copies of this 45, all of which are safely housed in the world's very finest Soul collections. Of the 4 in the UK I am also lead to believe this copy is perhaps the finest conditioned example. REAL DEAL PROPER NORTHERN SOUL BOTH SIDES! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 4,666.00

What Do You Think I Am C/w How About You May we again sing from the rooftops about this Los Angeles genius. Leonard Jewell Smith was to Northern Soul what Alexander Fleming was to anti-biotics. Click the soundfile and await two note-perfect Northern Soul dancers of the highest calibre. Then that's exactly what we have grown to expect from Leonard Jewell Smith - Northern Soul perfection to this man was all in a days work. This copy is totally immaculate in every respect. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,415.00 World Column So Is The Sun If you had to choose just one record to open a film with, or play to a non-believer or maybe a Northern Soul rookie to demonstrate the reaction a Northern Soul tune can spark. Try this Tsunami of Chicago attitude; at full volume to full hall of NS dancers, this tune causes eruptions! A record on a huge revival trail, on the back of "Soul Boy" the movie and mounting turntable action. So this, a mint - virgin to England copy still married to it's original company sleeve is a fine example of our music but also underlines the importance of sleeve & label art whilst collecting the rare-stuff! Gorgeous, isn't it just! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 109.00 Tal Armstrong Let It Go (it's Never Been This Good Before) Without question Talmadge Armstrong's rarest 45! Our first copy for over 15 years for this California rarity! Quirky intro soon dissolves into a smooth piano driven soulful floater. Tal never fails to impress with his expressive voice this time prompted by skillful keyboard work. Jerky, up down arrangement takes on silky texture with the inspired addition of a distanced haunting girl-group chorus. Rarely if ever seen for sale. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 128.00 Neil Sedaka Too Late Black RCA collectors here is - a tough one! Neil Sedaka!! surely not!! This is the "Tra La La" man in a totally different mood - forget who's singing and you'll be treated to a New York Latino Northern Soul shaker that seamlessly fits into today's dance floor requirements. Go on, throw away all your prejudices and take an open listen. It could be Hector Riviera himself rattling out the backing track and guiding thos shrill girls. And where did Neil's squeaking boy-like vocal disappear to? I love it - but then I've never been bothered who the artist is, more important Al Nevins, Donnie Kirshner & Ronnie Grossman lyrics are able to steer a terminal Teener towards much greater things. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 67.00

Martha & The Vandellas Dancing In The Street Normally we would only auction British Tamla Motown in immaculate condition, as you Brit-Soul collectors demand condition to be as fine as possible. But upon running the file of this so-darn-RARE 1964 Red & White StatesideDEMO, the computer informed us we have not had a copy for sale in memory. Certainly our first in the last 15 years..and before that we just don't know. It is a fact, the "hits" from Tamla Motown are the very hardest to acquire asDEMO'S. This hit as a DEMO seems to be incredibly scarce. So the few light surface blemishes on the vinyl, the minuscule light biro X on the label flaw are far outweighed by the sheer rarity of this piece. We just know very few Tamla Motown collectors own this Motown Anthem in this format, so act accordingly it may be your only opportunity to see it in the flesh. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 82.00

Home Of The Blues No. 8 March 1967 Edition Not only an utterly rare edition (our first copy this century) this example has a staple just above the LU of the front page BLUES text. Open the page and it reveals 1/2 a ticket (ripped in two at the door) of STAX REVIEW @ theUPPER CUT club March 1967. inside includes: Pics, live review and articles on. Little Richard, Soul Sisters, Prince Harold, fab full page pic of Howard Tate. Killer SOUL CITY SHOP full page advert. Back Page is an EMI SOUL SUPPLY 45 new release advert. Historical, essential research tool and the STAX ticket for the UPPER CUTEast London event is really iconic. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 24.00 Jerry Walker The Flowing River C/w Mr. Limp Same label that gave us the Celebrities & Hank Johnson - comes this ridiculously RARE double-helping of Sister Northern Soul. Totally obscure label presenting and even more mysterious female singer with an uncredited but highly prominent girl group enriching the production. Top side is a slick mid-paced groove with Jerry's splendidly presented vocal supported by a team of gals constantly echoing, cooing, oohing Jerry's lead. The uncredited producer adds even more style with subtle guitar riffs interrupted by some blaring brass work - I've listened to this rarity now, 4 times in a row...it really carries all the ingredients for Northern Soul greatness with Nella Dodds style innocence woven into a subtly lazy production that delivers punch when you least expect it. If that wasn't enough to crave ownership - the flipside raises the bar - with an atmospheric piano-led ghetto groove - neat baritone sax prompts, bluesy guitar work and the Doddsesque vocal again working it's charm. Two very strong Northern Soul contenders on one extremely rare disc. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 189.00 Linda Jones You Hit Me Like Tnt C/w Fugitive From Love Can collecting Rare-Soul be any more satisfying than this? Without question the greatest female soul voice of the last century, presented on one of the world's most-artistic labels, performing not one but two outrageously potent Northern Soul killers with the passion and power that nobody ever gets anywhere near to replicating. This is of course the seldom, if ever seen Blue & Yellow STOCK copy performed by the utterly charismatic GODDESS of soul. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 155.00 Luther This Close To You Luther Vandross with Anthony Hinton & G. Diane Sumler = Luther. This is the now iconic 2nd album for a man who went on the worldwide fame. Many rare-soul aficionados consider this 1977 album presents some of Luther Vandross's finest work. Including the soulful-dance-tune "I Don't Wanna Be Your Fool" + mood-changing-ballads and midnight strollers; but for me and Eddie Hubbard who recently reminded me the non-45 mid-tempo dance track " Follow My Love" is perched to make a huge impact for the DJwho has the insight to revive it. Not often is every track on an album a work of genius...but as hard as i try - i can't hear anything on the lp that is not superior-stand-out-soul. Cover, original inner sleeve, both labels and vinyl are immaculate! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 51.00

Jimmy Delphs Dancing A Hole In The World What would you expect for dinner tonight if Heston Blumenthal, Michel Roux& Tom Kerridge were messing around in your kitchen? Well, the 60s Motor City music equivalent of that gastronomic dream; would be to have Tony Hester writing, Mike Terry arranging and Ollie McLaughlin producing. The result is 3 Michelin Star Northern Soul, so darn rare, it's mouth watering! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 977 Bid Phil Flowers & The Underdogs Discontented Incredibly rare 1966 Baltimore, Maryland first take of a song that was to emerge a year later on DOT and become a Northern Soul classic through relentless turntable action at all the classic Brit-Soul-Clubs of the early 70s. Blackpool Mecca, Catacombs, Torch and early Wigan Casino. But none of these hallowed temples of Northern Soul, ever to my knowledge spun this raw very first Joe Tate (of Dontee fame) produced version of this ridiculously rare label. If like so many Northern Soul scholars you seek the very rarest, the very first tis 45 is an essential addition. Totally street-level raw, pungent NS dancer of te rarest form Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 113.00 Eula Cooper Standing By Love C/w I Need You More Forget the white label re-press, you are viewing the real-deal heavy vinylYELLOW label original first press - just stupidly elusive! An Atlanta Angel goes to Muscle Shoals utilizing the studios iconic Horn and Rhythm section, add to that Atlantic's star of the "String Section" Wade Marcus and you have the perfect environment for Ms. Eula to strut her stuff. Not one but two sides of distilled Soul from one of Northern Soul Princesses. A record for the conscientious Northern Soul collector who demands only the FIRST press and the finest Soul Music will ever enter their collection. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 188.00 Joe Bataan Subway Joe The reputation of the Gold Fania label within the Northern Soul collecting and dancing fraternity is blossoming into something of a cult. This Joe Bataan example - first press - is one of the tunes rising up within the dance-floor approval stakes. Value is bubbling away on the back-burner, dancers demands is simmering nicely (I was twice requested for it at Rugby all-niter but never had a copy in my DJ box, how embarrassing. But the current-demand was to deciding factor to list this on these pages. This copy is totally immaculate in every respect. Click the soundfile to experience Latin flavored Northern Soul at it's most exciting. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 168.00

Melvin Davis Find A Quitet Place (and Be Lonely) Detroit Northern Soul trophy from one of the City's most-influential artists. Melvin' collaboration with Mike Hank's second-self's Clara Bell & Rudy Robinson constructs a mighty piece of timeless Northern Soul that has remained and always will do so, an incredibly-awkward record to acquire. This example has thoroughly clean vinyl, the strong gleaming Ex+ label is perhaps the nearest you could get to seeing a PROMO as the "received" date of 4-14-65 sits top right hand, ting signature and the number 117. A premier piece of Motor City Northern Soul!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,601.00 Cajun Hart Got To Find A Way Trumpeters signals the arrival of an expressive deep-throated lead vocal underpinned by a full orchestra! The Northern Soul gang have always warmed to the huge no expense spared production - this example is one of the very finest in it's genre. Demanding any cynical debate on the singers colour or creed, quickly pale in comparison the warmth of vocal and depth of the skilled army of musicians who help bring the whole processing up to a level of greatness. In other words this 45 is so darn well produced, who cares who sings it, this is velvety Northern Soul made of a quality that's hard to tire of. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 316.00 Sun Lovers Main Street Yes, the same guys who gave te Northern Soul scene "You'll Never Make The Grade" + "My Poor Heart" with their 3rd and rarest Northern Soul offering. Hard to believe on this well distributed MCA subsidiary something can be darn hard to find. But this spring 1969 Los Angeles creation certainly is, the undeniable skills of Joey Jefferson & Ron Sanders again forge a fine vocal group winner. This one bristles with a light funky riff flirting with street-corner style vocal harmony. We believe rarity is the only reason you've most probably not encountered this 45 before. Future NS turntable potential is frankly long, long overdue. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 202.00 Jesse Slaughter I Had A Dream C/w How Does It Make You Feel A sleeper has at last stirred... Try and catch this on the up! Demand over the last few months has rocketed to a level of and inquiry almost daily of it's availability. A punchy brass propelled Northern Soul stomper that has just disappeared into those hungry DJ boxes and finger-on-the-pulse collectors. As an All-Niter spin this would rock-the-joint, it is a pump-up-the-volume experience that demands you dance. For the purists amongst you, the flip is down-on-your-knees tortured Deep Soul. It would seem there's more millage in the value of this to go... Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 309.00

Mr Manships Auction Results 8 - 03 - 2012
Hit Pack Never Say No To Your Baby Written and produced by Robert Staunton & Robert Walker is perhaps the reason this tune sounds nothing like 1965 Motown. The company drifted away from those compelling commercial creations of Smokey and the H-D-H trio etc. to release this non-seller. This is solid proper, moody Northern Soul, littered with echoing girls haunting the brass crammed backing track, with Earl Van Dyke plonkin' piano notes evident throughout. Highlighted by a lead vocal unlike most-Motown offerings of the year carries and angry ingredient that fuses the whole session together. Before you today is a blinding near perfect copy of TMG 513...dog-rare and so very seldom offered in this condition, the only condition that the discerningTMG collector accepts. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 97.00 Hitsville U.s.a. Volume 1 - Edition 5 28 page Tamla Motown Appreciation Society fanzine for May 1965. You would think by 1965 Tamla Motown fan base would have reached the levels of "General Public" appreciation. But close inspection of Dave Godin's monthly fanzine unviels the Motown Society frustration at the lack of British support for Motown, in a short angry letter about the labels poorly attended show in Leeds. It is grassroots writings of this type that ensure history is not distorted. So it seems, it was not until 1966 with the 4 Tops, Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Isley Brothers chart impact that Tamla Motown really took off in Britain. This addition highlights iconic artists like Kim Weston and a thought provoking full page ad revealing the Four Tops May UK tour to promote "I Can't Help Myself" Dave Godin requests all members to cut out and send him all local newspaper cuttings that mention anything about the Motown phenomena. A fabulous center page spread and editorial on the Supremes, Doris Troy article as Dave ensures not ony Motown is featured, as he championsSOUL. Dear Swingers and friends - this edition showcases Motown on the very cusp of British full appreciation. Priceless... Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 24.00 Lee Moses Time And Place Original New Jersey 1968 press - sublime condition vinyl just a couple of very minor surface blemishes other MInt -. Cover still retains the original shrink wrap and is perfect. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 57.00 Lad Teens Keep On Rollin' C/w White Rice So very reminiscent of the ridiculously valuable - Devotions - Do Do De Dop - on Nation. This rarity also spills over with all the same ingredients; wailing high-pitched carefree harmony vocals riding a sax-driven 60s dance production. Primitively marvelous Northern Soul drenched in feel-good street-corner inspired fun. Total and very elusive Northern Soul who's value can only go one way. If that wasn't enough, the flipside is a raging rampant instrumental, a relentless enforcer of dance floor disturbance. A double dancefloor destroyer! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 159.00

Jimmy Cliff Call On Me + 3 1966 4 track French EP with a typically grand and unique laminated picture cover which always alerts the senses. The value lies in Jimmy's very fine version of the Bobby Bland - Duke classic "Call On Me" - release in the UK on Fontana 641 - but most elusive and of course there's not alluring Picture Cover. Cover is immaculate, original "grease proof" inner sleeve still intact, labels are perfect. Vinyl has some light surface marks but that high fidelity French vinyl gives up superb sound, listen To the sound file lifted directly off this rare disc. Extra track recorded is the hipshakin' "I Got A Feeling" Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 22.00 Beverly Ann He's Coming Home The ravishing RCA maiden with the first of her two of her Northern Soul classics. This copy is not only pristine, flawless in every way - it also has the incredibly RARE bonus, of the promo picture postcard with the gorgeous Beverley Ann sporting rather tight jumper and flowing blond hair. Which no doubt you've drooled over for the last 3 weeks... So today, view the flip side of the postcard which also promotes her next release. "You've Got You Mind (On Other Things) + a message from Beverly Ann which reads. Hi! Thanks For playing "He's Coming Home"! Beverly Ann with a note: to watch for Beverly Ann featured as "The Kid Sister" in the TVcolor film "Good Morning Freedom!" listing her appearances in various TVcommercials. The record is so classic it doesn't require any comment, the lady herself is a stunner - the postcard brings everything together into the "must-own" calibre as it spills over with Northern Soul history & trivia. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 125.00 Stewart A. Brown Don't Call Me This is the late Stewart A. Brown of BLUESOLOGY fame. His work with Elton John has made this 45 and infinite British rarity. With the A-side "I Can't Go On Living Without You" written by the pairing of Elton John & Bernie Tauplin. But for Northern Soul fas it's the Stewart A. Brown composition on the flip that;s causing a stir. It is after-all the "Cajun Hart" cover-up! Completely elusive British release the Elton John connection & it being a B-side all ensured this little critter would only emerge on the Northern Soul scene long after its 1969 birth. Feel-good UK Northern Soul of this quality is seldom discovered these days. And a record that is massively in-demand within the British NS collectors &worldwide demand as an Elton John rarity! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 134.00 Timebox Beggin' A MOD anthem and dare we say the most-covet take on the Four Seasons classic. Huge demand and a little elusiveness is why this Michael Aldred creation is on these pages today - let's face it if we listed this set sale - on any afternoon by the morning GEMM, MUSICSTACK and all the other sites that track our listings, would give us an avalanche of orders - there is just one copy - still in it's original company jacket all in sublime condition. We'll let the best MOD win. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 61.00

Sam & Kitty I've Got Something Good Select-A-Disc Arkwright Street, Nottingham a Saturday pilgrimage for so many Soul-Boys 1971/1972. I would look forward all week to my fix of Soul. Down the wooden ladder style steps into the cellar of vinyl - this was theSOUL basement, no bigger than a posh-man's toilet. The anticipation of what was new, what could we take home with us today was a pulse quickening experience. J. J. Barnes - Please Let Me In, Al Kent - The Way You've Been Acting Lately, Roy Hamilton - Crackin' Up Over You had just been re-issued by RCA. We were in Soul-Boy heaven. Just as we turned to climb those rickety steps, the mischievous Denny behind the counter, turned up the volume and dropped the needle on SAM &KITTY... Daaa,Da, Daa, Da, Daaa - I got Something Good !! My God, me and my mate "Kipper" nearly died...I'd never heard anything like it in my life... gotta have it..was it for sale? Except you will need to know, for absolutely certain - this 45 has NOT been used and abused on the Northern Soul circuit. This has just emerged from an "Old School" collection accumulated during the Golden Days of Martin Koppel sending his Motor City vinyl harvests over-the-pond to enthusiastic British-Soul-Freshmen. It has sat inside one of those poly-inner brown card sleeves, that just smell of 1972. Thinking of finding MINT - examples of records of this pedigree in 2012 is frankly just "A Soul Boys Dream" Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,664.00 Hitsville U.s.a. Lorraine Silver Lost Summer Love Isn't it good when you see an old friend you haven't seen for years. I can't even remember the last time we had this Wigan Casino / Cleethorpes Pier Northern Soul anthem for sale. But I do know it was a promo copy - because the STOCK copy, well you just never see, do you. Click the soundfile to evoke visions of spinning girls in wide pleated skirts rising to parasol position. The guys in their vests, baggy "Spencers" lazily dropping back on their palms to rise, with hands in the air to copy the rhythmic handclaps, discreetly hidden behind those pumping horns. Circa 1974/75 was a period in Northern Soul history when the most important aspect of the night was to have a good time. This USA written and British crafted 45 in drenched in "good-time" moments. THe skilled writing team of Jerry Fuller & Mark Barkan ensured "Soul Orientated Brit" Johnny Harris had the tools to work with...the result? A TIMELESS NORTHERN SOUL CLASSIC! here in it's rarest format in immaculate condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 182.00 Garland Green Jealous Kind Of Fella British MCA issued that wonderful Clyde McPhatter album and a procession of Jackie Wilson lps. So when I was a young lad, I did hope and wonder for many years that MCA UK may have released this masterpiece. So just imagine my delight, when just last week, I find copy complete with laminated 60s UK style sleeve and the MCA logo at the bottom. I can tell you my heart raced like I'd woke up next to Beyonce... This is the AUSTRALIAN 1969 release - but being a pom I never knew it even existed, so my excited dropped only a little to the level of two "Hairy Bikers" laying beside me. Then running my hand over laminated cover, reading the fab notes on the back. Then cascading through my head were "Girl I Love You" "Ain't That Good Enough" Forty Day and Nights" "Angel Baby" etc. I was right back up there again, feeling like that dusky Texas maiden was now downstairs cooking me a full English breakfast. To an old soul-anorak like me, finding this album, in these clothes so similar to the "fantasy" Brit-release, is darn exciting. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 55.00 Eli The Prophet Take A Little Give A Lot A now for something completely different, but it'll instantly grab you right where it hurts. Blues-man Eli Anderson gives us some Deep-down n' dirty stuff to consider. Instant bass line demand to to dance, then the snarling vocal smashes through. Briefly softened by a bongo rhythm, this is quickly squashed by some wildly enthusiastic soul-gal who does a stand-alone chorus. With the horns and the relentless driving rhythm fuse into one helluva session - that is just about as "dirty" as one R&B record could ever get -LOVE IT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 68.00

Liz Lands With The Temptations Midnight Johnny C/w Keep Me For lovers of the USA Motown White Demo, this we had to display on these pages because of the squeaky MINT condition made my eyes water. Liz Lands joins The Temptations and an uncredited girl gathering molding an atmospheric moody groove. Motown's echo effect works beautifully as the team craft a very "unlike" Motown recording. Popcorn cum Northern Soul excellence it is. But do not overlook the thoroughly Soulful pleading Deep Soul ballad on the flipside, with the Temptations again carefully cradling Liz shrill expressive notes. Condition, condition, condition you'll maybe never see a finer White Demo. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 82.00 Valadiers I Found A Girl You are gazing upon THE most highly valued UK Tamla Motown 45 it is possible to own, that fact is never going to change. It has and always will be the RAREST of all the Motown recordings to emerge from any UK company. This copy is a blinding PERFECT - MInt only gets a very conservative minus sign after it because in strong light you can almost detect an occasional brief sleeve-brush blemish to suggest it has just been filed for nearly FIFTYYEARS!!! British Tamla Motown collectors this is the ultimate 45 - this is as good as it gets when one comes to market, in goose-pimple inducing condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 889.00 Ray Charles And The Raelets I Chose To Sing The Blues Jimmy Holiday knew how you write a slab of Northern Soul, didn't he just! His collaborations with Ray Charles created some real beauties. But NONEget anywhere near to competing with this out-of-control juggernaut of a production. It sounds like Ray's full orchestra is there, the Raelets screaming their appreciative chorus, as the horn section super-charges the session up to a level ready to match Ray's signature growl. WOW! Then a wild saxophone solo, that only gets blow out of the water by the truck full of horns - when is this gonna stop. Just too much...this is rampant Northern Soul ...presented here as a gorgeous totally captivatingRED & WHITE 19666 British DEMO in flawless condition. Some tune ... some vision.
