  1. Hi smudge, it may have been....I think the comment you made was somthing like " well this will grow on you" summat like that...you could hear the wind whistling over the decks Bazza
  2. Suppose the dance floor does rule ......but at the same time if a DJ does'nt clear the floor a few times ..then he must be playing to safe....I think this is the biggest problem these days ,scared to death of clearing the floor, there are many tunes I like ,but just cos Im not dancing to em,dont mean Im not enjoying em Bazza
  3. I think this is a good point...and I suppose I was as guilty as the next for being nostalgic and wanting to go back in time to my youth Bazza
  4. Well, im getting to be a bit of an old codger, I started my journey closer to 40 years ago, at the the kids Disco at Nottm palais, and they played every thing, Reggae Ska club soul R&B ..the lot, I had'nt a clue what any of it was, just new I loved it ,all of it ,suppose I was 13 or 14....even now I still love it all ,not just soul ,not just R&B...I am very open minded to it all ......apart from modern stuff ,what im getting at in the very early days of the scene every thing was played,I wish it was these days, perhaps it would not be getting as boring and old hat as it sometimes does Bazza
  5. Yep I did, i was dancing me socks off, nice to catch up with ya Bazza
  6. Im not sure this right Harry,I think after the R&B 60s the scene in the early days was based around uptempo soul dance music , and the more obscure rare tunes just happened to suit the scene better, than poppy type soul that was being played main stream.....could be wrong tho' Rare or not it did'nt matter..but it had to be a good usually uptempo dance tune Bazza
  7. Ay up Jim...yep you right ,as for TJ...its a great tune , as far as I remember up untill a couple of years ago it was either not known or been fogotten...I first heard it played by Cressy ....but now as you say it is sadly getting to be another "hot box" over played tune.......get some Beechams down ya....got to be in good shape for new years Bazza
  8. Hi Mick...saw this happen a Bentinck once ...the offending tune was "Some Good In Everything Bad"...great classic tune, I was gob smacked, never would have thought of it as a floor clearer Bazza

  24. Whats all this about Judy street being rubbish,it was and is still ,one of the most popular tunes ever played on the scene, not to my taste I might add but,u lot saying its a pile of poo ,are a load of nobheads ,and go along with this attitude about the tune, because the soul police think its a bit naff to play it these days... bar bar...you load of sheep...like it or not ,it is a classic Bazza BTW the wife still loves it........and of course she's always right
  25. I know we have debated and argued the toss about Carvers and reissues ,but if a tune has only been released on CD, as this has ( I think ) is it exceptable to have a carver....difficult one ,what do u lot think,,I think yes,if you have the CD of course Bazza
