  1. Hmmm, the point of my thread was, would this list go down well at a particular venue, nothing more,if you find that ridiculous..dont read it Bazza
  2. What are you saying Rowly ,we should only talk about records we own..plonker Bazza
  3. Absolutley correct Pete, tried to make this point earlier Bazza
  4. Well , beats me ,if I had put the tunes below in my list ,would have been accused of played out safe stuff Falcons - Love Look In Her Eyes - Big Wheel Lost Soul - Secret Of Mine - Raven Conquistadors - Sadness & Madness - Signett Houston Outlaws - Ain't No Telling - Westbound Demo Fabulous Apollos - The One Alone - Valtone Demo Bazza
  5. Great set of tunes, would have me buzzin, but I dare say some of the tunes will get the "played out" same old same old ,boys moanin Bazza BTW love that Falcons tune
  6. I picked this list because I know they go down well in most of the venues I visit in the Notts and surrounding areas If I was doing a spot at the Attic I would have picked a completly different list,or if I was at the Orwell playing "tent music what ever that is " different list again,I think you have to know the venue,if you dont ,then you're on to a looser Bazza
  7. Its a nice tune to listen too,and yes your right it would clear the floor,as far as dancing to it ,no it would never happen, musically its beat is all over the place Bazza
  8. Give over ,not called northern soul for nothing but seriously I woud'nt have said these four tunes where played out over the hill tunes FALCONS - LOVE LOOK IN HER EYES VITO & THE SALUTATIONS - I'D BEST BE GOING ROY HAMILTON - SHE MAKES ME WANNA DANCE BARRET STRONG - I BETTER RUN could be wrong though... Bazza
  9. If the tunes I listed dont get you moving,I think there must be some thing wrong with you, only reasons I can think off 1, your from "darn sarf" and dont really know what you're on about 2, your ears are clogged up 3, your allready dead but then again thats why I aint a DJ Bazza

  11. Ok Dave ...yes more or less...even got a little funky I thought, not complaining by the way (in case Dawn spots this),might see ya there one day/night Bazza
  12. Hi Dave ..was you one of the guys there,.met up with Dawn, dont get me wrong we enjoyed it ,14 of us came up in a mini bus,I was just agreeing with Mandy about different areas playing a different mixture of tunes, see you again Bazza
  13. I picked that set of tunes because I know they would go down well in and around the Notts area, and would with out doubt get the place jumping,,its ok you lot saying play stuff nobody knows ,but if you did that all night, you would not be asked back to do another spot, that I could guarantee ,but dream on if you like,if I was a a DJ my biggest concern would be to make sure the punters had a smile on there faces, and plenty on the floor, like it or not , that set of tunes would do just that Bazza
  14. Hi Mand..I think your right ,I went to a do in lincoln.last week..some of the stuff played I thought was very odd to say the least...it went down well there, but if it was played around here, they would go down like a lead balloon,I enjoyed it, was a good night ,but thought some of the stuff a bit strainge IMHO Bazza
  15. Got to admit this tune does nothing for me...not in the same street as the ones in my list Bazza
  16. I think you've got three types of soulies that go to Do's 1.the listener, likes a drink likes to listen to newies more than old over played stuff 2. the dancer ,dances all night likes newies and old standard stuff 3, the ones that only dance in the last hour had a few beer's only dances to the old over played stuff if you can please all three, you've cracked it Bazza
  17. yes they have been hammered but I still love em,and they do fill the floor Bazza
  18. Sad to say ,I dont own them all..some yes,but I am not a DJ... Bazza
  19. Now then, many a time ive been at a venue, had a couple of vimto's bit of a dance then a few more vimto's,start thinking to my self ,I could do better than this chap (the DJ).....But could I ....here's what I would play THE VICTORS - HURT HESITATIONS - IM NOT BUILT THAT WAY FI- DELS - TRY A LITTLE HARDER JR WALKER - TUNE UP FOUR PRO'S - JUST ANOTHER GIRL CAPITOLS - DONT SAY MAYBE BABY FALCONS - LOVE LOOK IN HER EYES MAJESTICS - I LOVE HER SO MUCH DELLS - RUN FOR COVER TEMPTATIONS - I WANT A LOVE I CAN SEE STEINWAYS - YOU'VE BEEN LEADING ME ON LITTLE RICHIE - JUST ANOTHER HEARTACHE ETHICS - LOOK AT ME NOW VALA REEGAN & THE VALERONS - FIREMAN VITO & THE SALUTATIONS - I'D BEST BE GOING PAT & THE BLENDERS - JUST BECAUSE MAURICE WILLIAMS - BEING WITHOUT YOU COD'S - IM A GOOD GUY ROY HAMILTON - SHE MAKES ME WANNA DANCE BARRET STRONG - I BETTER RUN SIDNEY BARNES - STANDING ON SOLID GROUND That should do me for about an hour would you ask me back ?? ofcourse you would Bazza
  20. R&B has always been a part of this scene ,more so in the early days of the Wheel and Torch, but as I understand ,it you want to change the scene because you are not to keen on R&B.infact Ska and Reggea used to get played at the same Venues, not that I would like to see that again ,but you cant just chop out the bits you dont like,I like R&B, but I would not like to hear it alnight Bazza
  21. Hi Lynsey or is it Wez..I know exactly what you mean ,cos I go to the same places or did, keep trying different venues now tho' Bye the way ..its Barry and Wendy ,Rob and Julie's friends you do know us,welcome to Soul Source Bazza

of course..thats the difference between "propper" Northern and Modern, the raw sound of the 60's, compared to the over produced "perfect" sounds of the 70's Bazza
