  2. after 35 years collecting I've gotta to tell the world.... "My name is Paul Donnelly and I'm a vinoholic" Last week I purchased what was for me an expensive tune, several hundreds of pounds and told myself that I needed to sell a few to finance the purchase and agreed with that bloke I talk to in my mirror each morning not to buy anymore for at least a month. Yestersay I purchased 4 more records , I just can't stop buying and I am really worried I have an addiction, they arrive, I look at them, clean them, put them in a new cover and file away, I have records that in some cases Ive paid £50+ for that I have never played, please someone tell me I'm not alone, I have to stop buying records. Btw anyone got a Willie Hutch-Loves Run Out for sale???

Bits and Pieces - keep on running away The Brothers - are you ready for this. cheers in advance PaulDonnellyBP@aol.com ---------------------- Press release....Radio Cambs Soul Show - Tue July 3rd 6pm to 7pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/cambridgeshire/local_radio/ Paul Donnelly one of the resident Phoenix Soul Club DJ's will be talking to me Ian Gray about the forthcoming Phoenix reunion night. Paul will be playing some of those great tunes that made the Phoenix the legendary venue it became. I'll be chating to Paul about how the all-nighter started and finished. Paul has some wonderful stories about this legendary venue, such as the evening one of the Phoenix resident dj's traded Billy Woods on Sussex for Timothy Wilson "I must love you" and Malibus "Gee Baby" or how Betty Wright's agent closed down the Phoenix, or how Paul sold Bobby Jason to John Vincent as an unknown for £3, or the night Levine was booed and heckled, or the night 1700 crammed in to watch Herb and Brenda Rooney. Any questions or memories about the glory days of the Peterborough Wirrina, emal me Ian Gray at ian.gray2@bbc.co.uk You can listen on line vai https://www.bbc.co.uk/cambridgeshire/local_radio/ or tune in localy to 95-7fm best wishes Ian Gray
  5. too the best of my knowledge, this was discovered by John Manship on a trip to USA late 80's...Abetone acetate "baby my love" on label but NO artist...Spencer got hold of it first and attributed it to Eddie Parker because he throught it sounded like him, three weeks late I purchased it and then it went off to Nigel Parker up north.
  6. "could it be" was the backing track on this used on any other record?? ta in advance.
  7. from 75... Midnight Brew...Melvin Carter.
  8. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Emmit_Long_-_Call_Me.ram pm me please..

  11. slight thread drift we got Kitch and Dean Anderson on at the Dog next week...1500 meters from my house and clean underpants...can't go wrong.
  12. agreed Mr Darcy those that CAN get out and about should do so whether they are spinning toons or not, if I can get away from work tonight early I'm hoping to get over to the Dukes Head to support Perry and the boys. Pet hates...bootleggers, promoters who are obsessed with themselves and those that suggest you're a vauxhall conference soul music fan if you don't travel 300 miles every weekend
  13. My Mrs...she hates the northern scene but allows me to indulge in something that like her is special. And not forgetting Terry Tibbs who took me to my very first all nighter at Bletsoe in 1972, without his paypacket of staying up stuff that night I've always wonderd if I would have ever discovered the wiered and wonderful world of the UK's Northern Soul Scene, still gets out and about with his wife Sally..top bloke.
  14. sorted...mods please delete
  15. thanks Dave. The idle few, the first time i payed £10 for a record, purchased of Jon Anderson in 1975 and he told me there was only three copies, then again he's told me that many times, diamond geezer is our John. Still got my white promo after 32 years....I guess I must like it mate.
  16. Dean Anderson... pm please. ta
  17. the top collectors do demand a £100/150+ package which I thinks is well worth it condsidering the mileage and what they're actaully playing... Me, I charge £10 per hour + 12p per mile, then again I'm Vauxhall Confrence compared to some of the guys.
  18. are the SOS yellow one real ones or legit re-issues? My understanding was Richard Searling had the only copy on a acetate when played at the Casino, I'm probably wrong so please someone put me right. Whatever the story is its one hell of a tune that just doesn't get played anymore.
  19. the show is presented by an old, old Peterborough soulie called Ian Gray...nice bloke.
  20. there is stuff on you tube...
  21. missed the Stafford thing and never noticed him 2m off the front of the stage at Wigan ..lol however when a bloke whos; been there and worn the tee shirt inside out 3 times breaks down on camera about an old mate 'bruce' then that is what being a MATE is all about... Just watched some dvd with keb doing his stuff, proper bloke...I ve lost two mates to the dreaded 'stuff ' for those that do it now and again? enjoy for those that hammer it...be careful guys and girls.
  22. The Supremes and Temps...Aint no maountain high enough. Have been told it only came out as a 45 in Australia, did it surface via any uk albums?? soundfile would be really nice... ta
