  2. Wow, I'll admit it's not the most soulful record in the world, and I usually dislike the northern pop stuff that you guys seem to be lumping this with...but I think it's brilliant, with an almost unbelievably catchy, genius hook.
  3. The 2004 and 2005 ebay auctions were both of individual copies that had separately and coincidentally walked into the same detroit record shop within a few months of each other. Up till that point, I think there were one, maybe two, copies known of in the collectors' world.
  4. yeah, it has proved to be elusive for me too. i am kicking myself for forgetting to bid on the recent ebay copy. but now i've got one sorted. thanks, everybody.
  5. Just missed one on ebay that went for $21.57. Anyone got a copy of this cheapie for sale? Thanks, M
  6. More added; I'll add still more tomorrow.
  7. by double o's i'm assuming you mean the double o demingos? which one? color one tear black?

  10. You took the words right out of my mouth, Tony! Also love this couplet from Eddie Bo: "If I ever get a dollar I'm gonna squeeze it until it holler"

  12. "Half-Way Loving" VG++ white promo (no E grade on my scale) $200 postage paid (paypal only) 1 copy--first come, first served EMAIL TO RESERVE: finewine@wfmu.org
  13. i quite like act 1's "it takes both of us"....i think of it as kind of a poor man's kool blues "can we try love again."
  14. hi. want to make me an offer on the issue? like the promo, it's vg. (on a m-, vg+, vg scale.) i'm looking for quite a bit for it (3 figures), as it does seem to be pretty darn rare....otherwise i'll probably put it on ebay in the next couple days....in which case you'll probably be the only bidder at $9.99! cheers, matt

"nothing you can do" on him
  16. Well, I'll keep that in mind, but I've gotta figure out what I'm gonna do about pricing it...and which one I'll keep. For now it's not going anywhere.
  17. thanks. "you know i've tried" is much more common with "it's spring" as the flip, as far as i can tell....
  18. "I Think You're That Girl" It's an uptempo R&B dancer on One-derful 4826, with the flip "You Know I've Tried." It's on the soulfulkindamusic discography site, but only because I supplied the info. I have both a stock copy and a white promo, and I'm thinking of getting rid of one (this isn't a sales posting; it's an information-gathering/-sharing posting). It's obviously not to everyone's taste. I've never seen or heard of another one; does anyone else have it or know of it? Clip of it here: I Think You're That Girl, McKinley Mitchell Thanks, Matt

  20. i was charmed by the label! it was a dollar or less. i gave it to a friend back home who's a food writer who specializes in meat. i had to hit him up for a label scan just now.
  21. i found this among a bunch of turkish records at a used-book/record shop in ISTANBUL, TURKEY, a couple years ago. it's a country record, a promo 45 for a local meat purveyor in kentucky. TOP THAT! i can come up with no explanation.
