  1. ken do you like it? PEANUT DUCK by Marsha Gee I think its top of the pops!
  2. PEANUT DUCK by Marsha Gee I first heard this track whilst on a scooter rally in the middle of a field in Germany, my mate new it off by heart and went into this craze dance flapping his arms and shouting the words as if it was the best record he had ever heard. Later I was to meet a Mod in Camden Town who told me tales of acetates and cover ups, he loved this record and hinted that it may be some one else sing to this record whilst under the influence of chemicals or booze, lack of sleep or all three? I can find a clip on youtube and I don't have the record, I kinda like it but love the fact that there are some who adore it. I do have a scratchy file of it some where? Quack, quack, quackgiggy, quackgiggy, brrrrrrrrr, quack, quack, giggy, giggy, gi-gi-gi-giggy-gooma, gi-gi-gi-gi-gi quackgiggy, quackgiggy, gi-gig-goom, gi-gig-goom, gi-gig-goom-goom" https://easydreamer.blogspot.com/2006/10/marsha-gee-peanut-duck-mp3.html

  6. I love that track! It's great bieng a Div
  7. I'm just a crazeeeeeeeeeeee mixed up kid
  8. Mace, dude, no need for an RnB Fatwa against me, honest, yep I commented on Barnsley but it was by no means any thing against RnB, the last thing I want is a load of people wearing cravats chasing me down an ally and pouring espressos over me! Mixing RnB works most excellently at Bidds and I have always had a top night there and recommended it to others. Do I like RnB? I don't know enough about it to have an opinion and I have never voiced an opinion on RnB. I am asking a simple question, you are of course quite right about letting the promoter crack on with what ever room they want. The idea of mixing suits me very well indeed, I often meander into a RnB room and I am always blown away by the sight of every one else singing along to a record that I have never ever heard of, it is an awesome experience for me to get busy with some new sounds. Bidds does this in a way that I find very palatable because I can dip in and out of genres without too much of the band aid being ripped off. I still don't like going to an empty room, having said that I have found my self dancing on my own in many alternative rooms so what the hey do I know?
  9. RnB is dead RIP RnB Overheard at Barnsley a week ago, "RnB has run its course now; no one is up for it except the few hardcore cats n thay are getting fewer". Has the RnB room run its course? Should venue promoters stop flogging a dead horse? I am not sure of the answers but I don't see too many chocker block RnB rooms, yup it may just be the venues I am visiting, is there a vibrant scene out there or is it dwindeling off?
  10. Surley I'm not dancin on me own?
  11. JOE 90 RON GRAINER ORCHESTRA Guess what, I like this track! Yup I'm out, I am a Divvy. Did you dance to this in the casino days? Some one had to? It didn't clear the floor so who danced and the million dollar question is.............. would you dance to this at a nighter? Would you dare play this at a nighter? If not why not, it aint the worst track played. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9hMTC9NusM
  12. Are we still at the tip of the soul iceberg? How many more discoveries will there be? I love to think that we haven't quite heard all on offer as far as rare undiscovered soul goes. I love the idea of those passionate collectors, dumpster diving and warehouse delving looking for that elusive spin. There must be hundreds, thousands? Of tracks that just can't be listened to due to time restraints? I cam across this Michael Jackson track, not rare but rarely played I think? I love it and every day I log onto Soul Source I kinda hope there will be a new biggie, that's why the nighters are so important. For those who lay out the cash and for those who search and put the hours in, thank you.
  13. I will be at the usual nighters. Tony I suppose there will be a few spot on Soul Nights up and down the country but I kinda want a better longer experience with the whole evening starting way early on in the week. Arranging lifts, getting the ok from my wife, ringing my friends, packing a nighter bag, hearing the car horn, slamming the door, hugs n giggles, new CD in the player, sing alongs, getting lost, finding the nighter, parking up, saying hello, looking through the records, finding your corner, relaxing with friends, listening to the music you love, hoping for some thing new, getting some thing new, celebrating life, watching the clock and not wanting it to end, stuffing flyers into your bag, sweaty hugs and shower in a can, driving home with a grin of satisfaction, knowing we can do it all again soon. Not having to listen to Trev n Shaz drone on and on about the Snake, watching some Muppet spill their beer, watching some Muppet giving you the evil eye coz they have just drunk eight pints and they now think its 1979 again. Tony there is no way that any one could possible educate you on a Soul Source post but why not come to a few nighters and listen to some of the superb music on offer, some of its quite good. There is RnB, Modern and Newies plus some quite brilliant dust off's.
  14. I don't think any one could disagree with that. I think we should be looking at ways of policing this and possible agree to a list of punishments? I am not advocating vigilantes but we have a situation that in 2010 seams to have spiraled out of control with little to know one doing anything about it, yes we have the snippy post here on Soul Source but is this doing anything other than making the post author come across as being a bit of a wet? Let's get fair but firm with this people. Community policing or neighborhood policing has been tested against anti social behavior on the streets but we need to organize some thing with a bit more teeth for our problem and what about some sort of badge or uniform? I will start on the uniform design later today, I am now quite exited about this project and I think "Tomatoes" has hit the nail squarely on its head, well done. Here is a design I kinda like, comments?
  15. Thank god for that I thought I had lost it for a while there! Isis you have saved me from going mad!!!!!
  16. Great post James. To answer the question we must first determine whether or not the internet was instrumental in the "Born again's", it is the born again's that have swelled the numbers and it is the born again's who leave (If in fact they are leaving?). The influx of numbers onto the Northernsoul Scene is not a phenomenon; it can be seen on the Scootering as well. (Going to stereotype here for ease) The numbers came from people reaching a certain age and having less parental responsibilities, more money, more time, mid life crises, a wealth of forgotten and unknown, unavailable music on CD plus concise sleeve notes making every one instant experts along with the ability to store and play thousands of music tracks on various formats. We also have the "Soul Night" brigade who inherited a well trodden path and a formula that was as safe as houses (before the credit crunch I hasten to add). There was also a real desire to revisit a musical past, forgotten and discarded but strongly ingrained within an imagined culture left over from one or two visits to The Casino and a constant drivel of fibs proclaiming a love for a music that is still a mystery with what ever kudos this brings? I know this all sounds cynical but the fact that numbers are dropping just galvanizes my thoughts on this. Back to the question of the internet, most got back into the "scene" at a local level and a little before the deluge of mouse clickers, Yoni's Northernsoul site and Mick Fitzpatrick's most excellent Night Owl site where trail blazers during a very small internet community of cyber Soulies and well and truly before the "Born again's" numbers so I doubt that the influx was in any way proportioned to the net. As far as damage is being done to the foundations and longevity of the Northern Soul scene by the internet and social network sites, I say let the cull begin! Back in a galaxy not too far from here we had a cadre of Allnighter goers who would get in things called a car and go to the Allnighters, very rarely would one clash and when I go out I see the same faces that I attended during the "Lean years"? If Trev and Shaz are deciding to hang up their talc bottles and some of the venue organizers are feeling the pinch then so be it, it does not and will not affect the allnighters and that means it does not and will not affect "The Northernsoul Scene". As far as feed back for and against venues written or commented on forums, facebook, twitter, blogs and the like, I have never read any report that completely dams, besides most people now days realise that as part of the internet experience large pinches of salt are required whenever we log on, every one (me included) has far too much to say and a bollox filter is yet to be invented? As far as "sycophant venue reports" go, I think this is quite normal and healthy. Try visiting a website for an opinion on a holiday just to see a 50 50 conflict of opinion, the devil loves his advocates! It is my opinion that our scene is stronger and better than ever before, not for numbers but for quality and passion.
  17. I used to have a Volvo 360 GLE, some bloke hit me and smashed my rear up, it cost nearly two grand to fix. Most of the damage was done to my boot.
  18. The Ting Ting's That's not my name I have a friend who was at Stoke and swears he heard a track with some of the lyrics that The Ting Ting's "That's not my name" use. Was he correct in hearing this or am I, I mean is he going off his head?
  19. Hit the town in the cold of the night Looking round for the warmth of the light There was fog all around So I guess no one saw me arriving
  20. Is this the first ever Modern Northernsoul track? Played at Wigan? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFfSdCizlDY
  21. Willie Mitchell's, "I don't like seedless grapes" epitomizes the Northernsoul scene.
