  1. Eyup bud, good to hear from you! Missed Bradford last night as supported local do in Orrell and my mate Mr Cunliffe. Still not feeling 100% but hope to catch you soon cocker. In any event atb to you n yours over the [so-called] festive period
  2. Have moved remaining items to trades and swaps but cash always an option too of course. The Innersection - let me love yuh (Group 5) £350 Awesome x-over dancer of course and still packs dancefloors wherever it's spun. Labels v clean indeed and vinyl too; the odd v light mark is all. There is a tiny (and I do mean tiny - about the size of two pin heads) 'chip' (that's sounds a bit melodramatic actually) on the very edge of the lmly side. No dramas really but wanted to mention it; once it's queued-up, you can hear one v small and quick 'tick' on the first rev then off you go. Venturas - baby be mine (Daniels) REDUCED £165 Spare copy of this fantastic Chicago group dancer which is now getting the spins it so richly deserves. Lela Martin & the Soul Providers - you can't have your cake and eat it too (Melatone) REDUCED £80 This is an old school gritty, really uptempo dancer of course, originally spun by Pat Brady back in the day if I'm not mistaken (but probably am). Great condition and a very, very reasonable price too I think. Giving it away ... Rose Brooks - I'm moaning (Soul City w/d) REDUCED £160 Label on one side has signs of very faint ringwear but otherwise a dead nice copy of a great record IMHO The Deans - (lady of the) Caravan (Star-maker) REDUCED £90 Pink, stamped first issue of this early Detroit rarity. Quirky and catchy as a quirky, catchy thing and includes some pretty high-level flute action; gotta love that. Visitors - what about me / my love is ready ... (TRC) REDUCED £40 Few marks and I'd say a very decent vg+ overall, probably better. WAM seems to be getting played at most of the more prgressive nights in the NW at the mo and rightly so, top notch dancer that always gets em up. Entertainers - love in my heart (Symbol w/d) £70 Rarer w/demo. Great upbeat dancer in at least vg++ condition and at what I think is a v good price Godoy Colbert - I wanna thank you / baby I like it (Revue) REDUCED £50 Reduced still further . Current spins for Jumpin Joan among others and two really great dancers back-to-back. Mac and Barb & the Gamuts - hold me tighter (Pyramid) REDUCED £75 And now for something completely different ... ... not everyone's bag by any means, what with it's haunting quirkiness. Did have nighter spins a few moons back and just sounds like an all-nighter record IMHO. Whatever, it's certainly a damn sight harder than the 75 quid I'm asking for it. I'd say it was at least a strong vg+ condition; the odd low-level bit of background crackle here n there but nothing much. Genuine bargain Tony Diamond - don't turn away (Blue Rock w/d) REDUCED TO £65 Slightly grubby labels and lots of very fine but light marks that don't affect play to any real extent at all. So, high class record which books at 200 mint and which has retained it's credibility among the 'connoisseurs' over the years. Always thought this sounds magic over a system. Can't really be done can you? Thelma Lindsey - prepared to love you / why weren't you there (Magic City) £200 One of the all-time great Detroit double-siders IMHO. Two awesome dancers, take your pick. Roy Handy - baby that's a groove / monkey see - monkey do (Stephanye) £30 This'll take you back to that misspent youth. Strong vg++ at worst Kelly Brothers - love time (Sims) £25 Precisely as per Roy Handy above The Night Watch - lips to your heart (abc w/d) REDUCED TO £25 What might best be described as a manic "blue-eyed stomper", or words to that effect anyway. Certainly remember it seeing plenty of action at Morecambe mid 80s but strongly suspect it hit the odd turntable at various nighters long before that. You know when people talk about forgotten oldies, well here's one on a clean white demo for just 25 quid. Broadway Express - what love can do (I&D) £50 Another that's hugely synonymous with Morecambe to my ears. Seemingly forgotten and a third of the book price. A nice vg++ Misty Moore - little things (Pzazz) £90 Great underrated west coast dancer. Formerly covered-up as Cheryl Ann and a record that really needs a push again IMHO This copy has a fair number of v light marks but they dnap. Easy vg++ I'd say Jimmy Helms - that's the way it is (Oracle) £60 Started to get mentioned in one or two despatches again recently. Very, very good semi-known uptempo dancer and not that easy to pick-up. If you had a punt on it 'blind' I don't think you'd be disappointed - clip in refo though so no need Lou Roberts & the Marks - ten to one (MGM demo) £35 Quality oldie for next to nowt. Charades - love of my life / can't make it without you (Okeh) £45 Really nice issue copy; most of em I've seen have been demos. Very good record too IMHO. Thanks for having a look. I hope there's something of interest and at the right(ish) price for you. If so, or if you fancy a civilised haggle, drop me a PM and I'll get back to you asap. atb Phil
  3. John O asked me to post as playlist so here it is, two half hour sets in no particular order: Shades of Jade - is it wrong (Cenco) Majjestees - take back all those things (Mutt) Puzzles - my sweet baby (Fatback) Lee Tillman & Secrets - she's the one I love (Whit) Sam and Kitty - all alone C/U Harold Burrage - fifty fifty (M'Pac) Martha Carter - can if you think you can (Ronn) Visitors - what about me (TRC) Winfield Parker - I'm on my way (Spring) Big Don's Rebellion - it was true (Ethon) Les Chansonettes - don't let him hurt you (Shrine) Eddie Daye - guess who loves you (Shrine) Terriffics - leave us alone (Diamond Jim) Little Curtis & Blues - please keep me (Vanco) Bull & the Matadors - if you decide (Toddlin Town) Lee McKinney - I'll keep holding on (Sable) Fantasians - GI Joe (we love you) (Thomas) Kenneth and Delroy - let me hold you close (Steeltown) Bob Marshall & Crystals - you've got me crying (L-Rev) Oracles - I ain't got time (Om)

  6. Hi still got quite a bit of unwanted vinyl floating around which I need to move on. Some nice additions to what's been left from recent lists on here and I've tried v hard to keep prices as low as possible (do tell me if I've dropped any bllx / if there are any anomalies though). Nothing mega rare in here but some decent records at pretty good prices I hope. Happy to consider like-for-like trades if you just fancy a bit of a change about. If you want to make an offer feel free but if it's miles out I'm afraid I just won't respond. Have a good look then and hope you find something you're after. Cash, cq, paypal (as gift) (Philip@threlfall.fsbusiness.co.uk) all ok. I'll do postage on anything over £100 otherwise it's standard rates UK and Europe, depending how you want em sent. Graded as tightly as poss and all Ex unless stated. Money back if you're in any way unhappy. Oh aye, I'll consider any serious offers for the lot. If you can wheel n deal em then fair play Cheers Phil First few as priced individually Tony Matthews - my wish (Convoy) £500 Slight grubby ring on label but vinyl is cleanest I've ever had and EX at least. Immense record! Del Chontays - baby I need you (Steeltown) £180 Massive 80s spin. Immaculate condition Tony Diamond - don't turn away (Blue Rock w/d) £90 slightly grubby label, vinyl is vg++ and plays absolutely great The Rays feat. Hal Miller - love another girl (AMY demo) £125 very close to Ex indeed. Steelers - just beginning to love you (Crash) £150 Excellent condition, label and vinyl Godoy Colbert - baby I like it / I wanna thanks you (Revue) £60 Excellent nick, v clean copy Mac and Barb & the Gamuts - hold me tighter (Pyramid) £90 Rare record! V small wol and one or two superficial marks on vinyl; strong vg+ I'd say Lamont Dozier - dearest one (Mel-o-dy) £50 slightly grubby label and vinyl a nice vg++ Drapers - you got to look up / your love has gone away (Gee w/d) £50 At least Ex again. Virtually giving it away and two great sides! Ray and Dave - wrong, wrong, wrong (Mica) £50 Ex cond spare copy; what a record this is! All £40 each Jackie & Tonettes - the proof of your love (D-Town) Clean and a ridiculous price IMHO; great Detroit Appreciations - she never really loved me (Sport) As above Merle Spears & the Treats - I wanna know (Whit) One of the best rnb dancers of the past 10 years and a giveaway on the rarer label Gerri Taylor - empty arms and bitter tears (Constellation) vg+, plays great, bargain for this brill Chicago dancer Frankie Newsom - taunting love (USA) vg++, books 100 Lee Wilson - lonely boy (USA) as above Delilah Moore - I'll just walk away (Money) Ex condition and nearly half price for this x-over winner All £25 each Bobettes - mr Johnny Q (Gone) Ex cond. Great rnb which used to fetch a few quid Cash McCall - I'm in danger (Checker) Tommy Yates - darling something's gotta give Ex condition at least. Not bothered about mint although that'd be a bonus, just want a copy that's good enough to play out. Cheers Phil Kev: if you've still got my old one sell us it back
  24. Talk about hacked-off! Been watching 'make a change' on ebay since it first appeared and was pretty keen on the idea of owning it. Had an early bid to test the water with the intention of putting a more realistic one in nearer the end. Waited til near the death and thought I'll try this 'one click bid' button; guess what, it didn't work Not saying I'd have won it but it would have gone for more than it eventually sold for that is for sure. I won't be using it again as it seems to me to be all but useless, unless I'm missing something? Guess I need to get one of them there snipe things but why have it if it doesn't work properly?
  25. I don't disagree with the sentiment at all and certainly don't wanna get embroiled in the discussion that's been had a million times before. Good, soulful records are just that, surely, and if it's danceable, they'll dance. Not good enough is just that, whatever label you attach to it, and the whole 'rare' tag that folk throw around tends, in my experience, to be just as misleading and misplaced as all the rest. I can certainly think of loads of very rare 'oldies' for instance and I'm afraid that if you think 'rare' means not danceable per se you've missed out massively somewhere along the line bud. Personally, I wish there were far more quality mid tempo records being played on todays scene; some of the greatest things ever played were less than uptempo IMHO but then I'm a child of the 80s all-nighter which maybe explain that particular quirk. Defo not averse to the odd beat ballad either Anyway, whatever you wanna call it I too wish we could see more new blood on today's scene but suspect I we'd best not hold our breath
