Ruby Winters not his usual kind of spin, i never heard him play this one how did he pick on this one and was it spun by many other djs at the time.Lots of his spins were established Torch/Wheel sounds but somehow when he played them they became BUB sounds that was the extent of his personality.I last saw him DJ at the Cleggy weekender back in 1996 and his spot was the best of the weekend.Remember the film Documentary about cleethorpes when the narrator called him The Mighty BOB classic. The Guys i now work with in Barnsley knew him mostly through the Pit and Football and they loved him to bits, the shear mention of his name bringing a massive smile to their faces.
Ye
Yeh thats right Chalky forgot about that one.I remember CHAINS OF LOVE, STAY CLOSE TO ME,THE JOKER,SECRET HOME, and lots of old Twisted wheel era classics but would love to see a full typical playlist
Hi Guys
Talking about BUB the other day with a workmate who knew him well through football mostly but also through Soul.Being a Donny lad i saw him often and heard him DJ lots of times. We got talking about Bub' signiture tunes and was wondering if anyone can post a few of his playlists. There used to be a winding wheel live tape up on refosoul but i cant get it to load now
.

Looking for a nice condition fair priced copy of this pref on KING
PM with price and condition for a cash sale

I think the internet has helped broaden peoples record knowledge, but also i think that its just a simple case of the average punter being middle aged now and therefore more experienced on the scene.Back in the Wigan days most of us were just kids and knew very little really.
Hi Guys
NOW SORTED THANKS
I'm after a nice copy of DETERMINATION if anyone has a spare. I Know there are a few on well known dealers sites but the money seems a bit top end to me.Looking to pay around £40 if poss maybe stretch a little more.
Thanks for any PMS--Patto
Hi Guys
My copy of Bob Brady & The Concords--Goodbye Baby is a Green label Demo copy as shown. i know there are orange Chariot copies as well, but what is the difference. I know they are both originals but are there any orange demos or is it just the greens that are promos.Which one came first and were they both done at the same plants at similar times.
Cheers Patto
Thanks Chalky yes thought about that, but i also thought there would be loads of this one already out there carved up so it would be an easy one to get.Its realy been a surprise that i have had no offers maybe every one just wants to hold on to it.

Hi Jordan
Its a common complaint mate.My only advice is to not buy too compulsively after hearing a record for the first time.Play it several times over a few days and what at first sounded the best ever can sometimes loose its gloss after a few plays. If you still love it after a week of hearing it the buy it.Also try to avoid the hype around certain records and don't get stuff because others say its brill.Try to forge your own style of sound and buy what grabs you personally, that way you end up with a box of stuff you believe in rather than a box of so called should haves.Good luck and try to enjoy it
Hi Guys

I posted in another thread about how back in the day most people used to have there own hand built Wooded Record boxes before the advent of the regulation Flight Case.Over the years i've seen some real beauty's.So lets see any photos of your Character filled history dripped Wooden Boxes.Start off with mine which i built back in 1988.Its had 3 lids the latest only this year and several repairs ,and is as heavy as owt but its like an old mate.So Lets see Em.
Agree about Little Edith i have always liked it and its in my box too.It was a minor spin at the casino i believe.Trouble is when ever you mention reactivating a certain record you can be sure someone will come on and say we have been playing it at our club for ages so its adifficult one. My nomination would be this Detroit oldie which i would love to hear out more often.
Yes i remember Kenny Burrell's Box always next to him chained to table, or radiator pipes. In fact in the past a lot of peoples Boxes were individual custom built bulky affairs which maybe gave them a bit of security. Most DJs these days use the 100/200 count Swan or Blacka type ultra lightweight flight cases, and they are really easy to carry off with no one thinking anything untoward.I know its a pain to carry but you can't beat a good old fashioned hand made wooden box. They are heavy enough to put an opportunist off and would draw attention to anyone trying to make off with it. Also in days gone by people could recognise different DJs boxes and would notice a stranger walking off with them. The current crop of flight cases all look similar and blend in.All this still does not excuse the theft and my heart goes out to Craig really hope he gets a lead to their recovery.
