Just gone to tune in for my friday night listen ( late afternoon here in Queensland) and the website does not exist. What the hell has happened? Plaese don't say it has ended after all these years..............- Bobby Paris - True Blue Eyed Soul - 45's
Oh, I can anwser that one!! It was johnny "redpants" warren. He got a load of test pressing stuff, letters, etc all relating to Bobby Paris from the states about two years ago. I believe it came via Bobby's ex missus, I think she just wanted to clear the stuff out. Anyway, he has a few different versions of the said track and other stuff and some great printed material relating to the pressings Great Soul history.........- Soul Internet Radio Jocks And Stations
So, the studio is being revamped - whatever ! I know it's a simple thing to do. BUT at least put this info on the website, how hard is that? Sorry, but fu*king useless gits. I can only assume from the lack of replies, is that most on this forum are budding internet radio DJ's- I Believe In Miracles - Mark Capanni
At last - a quote on this thread I can 100% agree with. You Northerns have been drinking to much of that warm beer, it's made your hearing go dodgy A bland plain white singer trying to make a soul record - and doing it badly If this is soul, then the line between soul music and POP just became very blured indeed- Soul Internet Radio Jocks And Stations
woops.........that should be planet not plane- Soul Internet Radio Jocks And Stations
To be honest, there are a coulple of reasons why us expats on the other side of the plane, can't listen to these types of soul shows that are on local radio stations, firstly the time difference - we are 10 hours in front of the UK, so a mid-week show on at 8:00 pm is 6 in the morning here, but the main reason is the UK's Radio licencing laws . They don't allow UK land based radio stations to stream outside the UK. There are ways of hacking into these shows, via proxys etc, but the ease of tuning into Solar AND HEARING IT LIVE just can't be beaten. I gave up listening to Starpoint at the weekend, the stream would start breaking up, giving a very poor sound quaility, so I checked the website to find it just blank and unresponsive. Now this has to be the server because this is the only UK site that this fault happens with, but what gives me the real arse about it, is that it has been happening for a good few weeks now!!!- Soul Internet Radio Jocks And Stations
OK, I'm not looking to slag any DJ off here as I believe it's a bloody hard job to do on a regular basis BUT......... there are some out there on the internet shows that really need to improve!!Anyway, as I'm now in Aus and only listen at the weekend my selection might be a bit smaller tha most......... SOLAR Tony Monson - great mix and always a good show Barry James - just great feel good stuff Ash selector - Not only a great show music wise, but this man has the patter that sorts the men out from the boys..... Kev roberts - bloody good mix from Northern to Boogie As for the station, some of the shows leave me cold, but diversity needs to be part of the stations selection I suppose and SOLAR do it big timebut at our time zone some of the shows are..well $hit to be honest, but a "big up" to the fact that many of the shows are live, and if not live, only repeated ONCE a week!! Starpoint.......... Aggghhhhh.................this station just gives me the hump. They have some great DJ's and shows on, but the streaming quality is crap and some of the shows are so far behind it's not funny. Listening last weekend and I'm listenin to DJ wishing me a happy new year??If you can't get a new show recorded, then do what SOLAR do, just put on a mix of tunes on, DON"T WASTE MY DOWNLOAD LIMIT LISTENING TO THE SAME SHOWS WEEK AFTER WEEK!!! Anyway...... terry James - top show and tunes Andy Howard - again, same as the above... Sammy Sam - great show paddy Grady - don't get to hear this show often as it is not in my time zone but when I do, bloody good show. Jez Bishop - mate, a great selection of music but you really need to brush up on your presenting skills, just would be nice to hear you flow when you chat on the microphone!! Stomp............... Now for me and again the time zone I live in, this station has been a breath of fresh air. My only gripe is that a lot of the shows are not live BUT at least they are not normally more than a week old. Right, before I get slagged off here, I just want to say that I know most, if not all DJ's play for free and I do tip my hat to that, but it does get right up my goat when I tune in to hear the same show that I've heard over the last three weeks......if you can't commit to a regular spot then give it to a DJ that can? Closes the door and waits for the flak......- Some Tracks I Need Info On
Im assuming these tracks are from Lp's but could anyone point me in the direction of the titles of the LP's? Harold Melvin and Blue Notes -Get out Barbara Lynn - One night love affair Willie Hutch - Lucky to be loved by you " " - I'm gonna give you respect Charles Veal - New found love Cheers.....- Jez Bishop - Starpoint Radio Show
Did anyone on here listen to his last show. He played a track called "Woman" (I think!). I'm sure it was a big rack on the Northern modern scene, but I just can't remember the artist. Any info greatly recieved......- News: The Greatest Record Finds Of All Time 2008
- Original Mastercuts Show Rant
Sorry Alan, I'm got your surname mixed up with that other Alan "DJ" Alan Freeman - was he a sarf Londoner ? Must have been, that's how I've managed to mix the names up So, how have you ever managed getting to the 100 club, some strange natives north of that river As said previous, top show lads. Now that's off my chest, how about some Funk Fusion Band, Family of Eve, Roy Ayres, Leroy Burgess, Africa music machine or early fatback. I know none of them have anything to do with "you know what", not unless Family of Eve done a halftime sing a long at the Bridge a few years back !! That's it...........now repeat after me " I must not not talk about CFC OR Salf London" - Across The Tracks Soul & Blues Show, Queensland, Australia
