Yep, it's pretty much the best site to sell 12" Dance stuff on. It's primarily used as a research tool as the discographies are surprisingly good for the more mainstream stuff. Also it's much, much simpler to list items - it takes aproximately 30 seconds to list something on Discogs as opposed to 6-7 minutes on E-Bay so Discogs is much more user-friendly. Also, you don't pay any fees until you sell something. Pretty good IMO.... Ian D

  3. You could have taken the shrink-wrapping off Ken! Ian D
  4. I think it was the Parliament influence Steve......... Psychedelic Soul......... Ian D
  5. Hope so Stuart. I just checked with a colleague @ Demon and they have nothing for McKinley Jackson and/or the Politicians. A decent scan of the album sleeve might be the best you'll get. You could try Blues & Soul as they had a decent archive of old Press Photos and Bios etc but I'm not sure who to contact there these days....... Ian D
  6. Well, following the terrible news last Wednesday we naturally played a few Teddy P tunes this week to pay tribute to one of Soul Music's most treasured vocalists. RIP Teddy. We love you....... Other, than that it's the usual trawl through the eras covering as many bases as we can over 120 minutes and we sure packed 'em in this week..... 8. Well, another one of those weeks folks. Marvin, Barry, James, Luther, Levi, Michael, Woody and now Teddy. Soul vocalists don't have great life spans do they? Teddy Pendergrass has always been a staple of this show 'cos Al and I grew up with him and he's been the soundtrack to our lives throughout the whole of the 70's and beyond. So naturally we'll be doing a Teddy tribute throughout the show covering as many great tracks as we can squeeze in. Plus the rest - the usual trawl through the last 5 decades of glorious Soul music so hope you can join us! A sad time for sure but boy did he leave us with an incredible legacy. RIP Teddy. This show's for you........... Coming up tomorrow LIVE from 2.00-4.00pm on www.starpointradio.com featuring....... A Teddy Pendergrass tribute on the Original Mastercuts show tomorrow 2.00-4.00pm LIVE on www.starpointradio.com. RIP Teddy..... Ian D
  10. So definitely Teddy then by the sound of it. One or two people were a bit sceptical about the authenticy 'cos there's not much documentation about Teddy's early career........ Cheers Dave! Ian D
  11. I can't decide if it's him or not but he was a drummer at the time so I bet that was him hanging around Arctic looking for a break. I'll have to get my Philly books out now............. TEDDY AND THE FINGERPOPPERS - SOUL GROOVE - ARCTIC - Ian D
  12. I bet it was! Teddy was a drummer and I remember that as a bit of a stomper........are there any vocals on it? Ian D
  13. Great stuff Chalky. Just checked the CD and the sleeve notes say it was one of a 3 track session he recorded in New Jersey for Uplook Records. No dates but I figure around '67 ish. "You Got Love" is the Northern one but "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" is no slouch on the ballad stakes... He must have been around 17 when he laid those vocals down then! Awesome. He sounds much older..... Ian D
  14. I'm listening to a lot of Teddy Pendergrass this week for a tribute section on Sunday's show and I've stumbled back into the previously unissued storming "We Got Love" from the "Talk Of The Grapevine" CD from 2004. Not only is it 100% vintage Northern Soul but it sounds like it was recorded around '67 or '68. There's no info in the booklet but the writer is Jesse Herring. I just wondered whether if this was his first recorded performance? Anyone have any info pretty please.......? Are you out there Gary or Paul.....? Ian D
  15. C'mon Wrongcrowd. Don't be so naive. Anyone who creates a name for themselves by calling themselves 'Trouble' is obviously vying for effect surely? Trouble is his business, Trouble is his game - you must know the tune LOL.... Why would you call yourself Trouble anyway? To me that would suggest a predisposition towards creating an unsettling atmosphere and who really wants that......? Ian D
  16. Yep. Thread of the year so far for me. Incredible stuff......... Ian D
  17. Yep. Bang on James. You tell 'em just in case the name didn't register........ Ian D
  18. Mmm. Why? What's he done wrong? Ian D
  19. Hey, a personal James Trouble personal bashing excercise is fine by me LOL. It's just another one of the downsides to the Internet, Social Networking Sites and The Northern Soul Scene revolution mate. Character Assassination at the click of a mouse can be a potential hazard and cause a lot of stress if you're not careful. I suffered a similar situation last year so I know what I'm talking about..........I believe I was called a 'chancer' by certain parties............ Ian D
  20. Absolutely James. The social network site that first alerted me to the beauty of Northern Soul was a hub in a place called Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire in the early 70's which had a Soul Night every Wednesday night. However, in those days, they called Social Networking sites pubs......... Ian D
  21. Haha. Genius mate. Sheer poetry and a perfect demonstration of the power of the Internet thus confirming the whole point that James was trying to make in the first place......... Wow. Whatta thread........... Ian D
  22. Haha LOL. Those Yanks just don't have a clue do they? Congratulations James. You've just created a new internet phenomenon called Anti-Social Networking and, boy, are you the guy to head it up! Ian D
  23. Well, hey, things haven't always been hunky dory between myself and Boba (which was fairly well documented at the time) but I tend to agree with him on the above points. Ian D
  24. He's James Trouble Drew. That's T-R-O-U-B-L-E to all the ignoramuses out there who may be too thick to get it whilst living their boring humdrum lives..... Interesting thread this. I was watching from afar and not going to comment on anything due to past history between us but, hey presto, I've been sucked in.... ....and that my friends, is what's known as 'Social Networking'. Good topic James. It's inspired me to start interacting even more 'cos this thread is fascinating.......... Ian D
  25. I got spoiled by the first gig I ever went to - Sam & Dave @ Sheffield Fiesta in early 70's. Absolutely unbelievable performance when they both came out into the audience at both sides of the venue and just blew the place apart. I thought all gigs were gonna be like that! Seen most acts over the years but I've never seen a performance as good as that first one! Ian D
