  1. Ultra rare book 'The Sound of Philadelphia - Tony Cummins' 1975 Now on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310667315890?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  2. Heheh!! forgot to mention, the one I have bought on 'Phil-la-of soul' has the labels on the wrong sides. Could this be a one off? a rarity? another Frank Wilson? LOL!! Then I fell out of bed
  3. So both the 'Route' and 'Phil-la-of soul' are re-releases. If you couldn't find a 'Landa' one, what would be your preference between the 2?
  4. Yes definitely. It might be worth starting another thread of 'Releases on strange labels'? Bet there are tons.
  5. So the 'PYE Disco demand' of the US then :-)
  6. Excellent Ian, thanks for that.
  7. Yes thanks for that Toad. But why was it re-pressed on 'Phil-la-of soul'? Did they have the rights to the 'Landa' records catalog? Usually unless booted, records are released or re-released on partner labels, or labels that have bought, or own the rights to the back catalog. Also I have checked out the 'Phil-la-of soul' discography and it is not included on there at all, in fact the cat number is quite a lot greater than the last release.
  8. Got this last week, posted it then but not in this thread.
  9. Thanks dean, no, no specific reason, just thought it was a decent price at £12 with free postage. There is also a French one on 'Vogue' too, seen that and a few Landa ones, but thay all seem to fetch more than £50, some topping a ton. Thanks matey. PS - Why would they boot it on 'Phi-la'? which is a legit label. is it related to Landa? just seems a bit random.
  10. Hi peeps Can someone let me know what I should be paying for a copy of 'Get out' on 'Phi-la of soul' please? Not sure the history of it on this label either, so a bit of light shed on that would be nice too. Thank you
  11. Just bought a nice copy of 'The Lewis Sisters - You need me' on US 'VIP' What a stormer of a tune! and I must admit, new to me Love it! and for a lovely price of £6.49 too
  12. A bargain at $15 +P&P. Love mi US Motown demos
  13. I like the alternative version, and I like the original version, but which is best? There's only 1 way to find out, FIGHT!!!!!!
  14. The Night - Frankie Valli on Steve Wright show today also, it's all over the place at the mo'
  15. I know, and to be truthful I am usually a stickler for 'B' sides too, there are many hidden treasures lying on flips. Can't imagine why I didn't flip it years age, I've had if for yonks, as i said, must have just been the title that put me off doing it, I have had other re-presses that have had spurious versions of other tracks on the flip and renamed as the artist on the 'A' side, and I think that must have swayed me. But hey! a nice surprise, albeit quite a quiet press, still a stunner.
  16. Yeah, as I say, the reason I didn't play the flip is because of the title, thought it might just be a spurious version of the Johnny Caswell tune, so never bothered.
  17. Ah! not heard it out then.
  18. No answers yet I can only assume that you are all rustling though your collections to see what it's like LOL!! Yeah right!
  19. Ends tomorrow Vintage 50s/60s record box, holds about 40 7" singles. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310651262464?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  20. I was just going through the old collection sorting out my set for tomorrows Leeds Central, and I pulled out the boot copy of 'Maurice Chestnut - Too darn soulful', I have looked at the flip numerous times ''You don't love me anymore', never playing it thinking it was a cover of the Johnny Caswell track. But it's not, it's an excellent mid tempo groover, really shocked when I played it, never heard it before. Has anyone else heard it? was it on the flip of the original copies?
  21. A great band indeed, and so underplayed too. I was really chuffed what I got this about a year ago for literally pennies. Both sides are stunning and not seen another one since.. Other side is the brilliant 'Together forever'
  22. The Torch in Stoke. I didn't know what Northern Soul was til I went into that place as I was into Motown and R&B (the real R&B that is). A real eye opener it was too I can tell you. I'll never forget the massive rush of heat and atmosphere when the door opened to go in, nearly knocked me over. Then inside I was blown away by the dancers and knew I had to do it, even more so when I saw Frank Booper strutting his stuff. I am also proud to say that eventually when I got good, I was invited into 'Boopers' circle of dancers, a great honour at the Torch that was. Great daze!!!
  23. Has no one any idea about this?
  24. I got one through the post years ago snapped in half, the sender had written 'Records, Do not bend' on the mailer, and some smart twat had written underneith 'Yes they do'. Complained to the PO but never heard anything back.
  25. I know the 'Anderson Brothers' album was released in the UK on 'DJM', but was it ever released in the USA, and if so on what label? The only copies I have come across have all been on the UK release label.
