Kapp - (Label Of The Week)
On the subject, I see you have listed a copy of 'Patti & The Emblems'. How is it possible to tell an original promo, from one of the re-presses?

R.i.p. Ann Froggatt - Wakefield (Leeds Central Regular 1970S)
Thank you for the info. I have amended the post title as promised.

R.i.p. Ann Froggatt - Wakefield (Leeds Central Regular 1970S)
I know this is going to appear as a plug for the next Central, but believe me it isn't, it is in respect for Ann who was a big part of the Central in the 70s, and many people, including myself, who still go, will have known her and will be saddened by this news. At the next Central Alldayer, we will be having a 1 minutes silence for Ann, which will be very poignant as it will be held as usual inside the very walls where Ann used to frequent back in the 1970s. Also I have been informed that Ann may have been from Wakefield not Barnsley, so I have amended the heading to this post. I never went to Ann's house, and only saw her at various Soul events around the country, so I am uncertain as to which town she was actually from. If anyone knows for sure please let me know and I will amend the post heading with the correct town. R.I.P. Ann.

Would Marvin Like It?
Love it! Real soulful and would go well as the soundtrack to laying on a tropical beach with a pina colada and a semi naked woman at you side :-)

R.i.p. Ann Froggatt - Wakefield (Leeds Central Regular 1970S)
It is with a heavy heart and deep regret, that I have inform you of the passing of a dearly loved friend and a former 'Leeds Central Soul Club' regular, namely 'Ann Froggatt'. Ann was highly thought of and respected in the 'Leeds Central' circle of friends in the 1970s and will be dearly missed by many who were close to her. Ann's funeral will take place at Barnsley Crematorium at 12pm this Thursday the 3rd of May. All that knew her are invited to pay their respects. Condolences go out to her family and friends. RIP Ann Froggatt.

Please Help With Song Id
Someone has asked me the name of a song which has the words; I like the way she holds my hand, I like the way she understands, I like the way she combs her hair, I like the way she has a care It's really bugging us as we both know the words, but can't remember who it's by or what it's called. Anyone on here any idea please? I need to sleep tonight :-) Thanks Steve

Ok, thank you all for your time and effort. It is a re-issue then by the looks of things, but not overly disappointed as I only paid £11.50 for it.and I'm sure I have seen even the bootleg fetch more. Thanks again Steve

Help Please With Price To Pay?
Hi blokies and blokesses Can anyone please give me an idea of what I should be looking to pay for a copy of 'Pearlean Gray - I don't want to cry' on the original Green Sea label? I'd say it was Mint-, I have been offered it and want to know if I am getting a reasonable deal. Thank you Steve

On The Lighter Side
I was just sat looking at artist names and record titles, and for some reason (don't ask why) just for a laugh I thought about changing them round a bit and making them humerous. Here's a couple I came up with; 'Kenny Scramble - The yolks on you' 'Chilly Watkins - The ice man' You get the idea, I'm sure the more immature amongst you will think of a few more

How Long Have Illegal Acetates Been On The Go ?
Yes, be VERY caerful and only use luke warm water and a little wahing up liquid. I got an original acetate 7" copy of Jocelyn Brown's 'Somebody elses guy', tried to clean it up with isopropenol which works perfectly on Vinyl or styrene, but completely stripped the top coat off the acetate (lesson learned). It is now framed and hanging on the wall above my computer with the original 'Island' records info sheet. Looks nice, but an expensive display piece.

Name Swishs's Long Awaited Book Competition
Swish my old mate, still loving what your doing fellah, you were one of the ones that influenced me in my long Djing career in the early days of the 'Leeds Central'. I was honoured to spend time with you back then, and feel very lucky that I have acquired your talent and personality to carry on DJing at @ 'The Leeds Central' alldayers. Thank you. I wish you good luck with the book and hope that you eventually get it published, and if you need any help from my many memories of the old days feel free to ask. Maybe about the time someone told us that if you peeled the skins off peanuts and rolled them into a cigarette, they would get you high, so me and you bought about 2 pounds of peanuts and sat peeling them for hours at my house, rolled the skins up into a fag, and.............f*ck ALL!!! LOL!!! Pricless memories!! Below is a witty poem I wrote in the very early days of going to the 'Torch', If you wish to use it, please feel free to, and to use my name too, I don't mind. Old King Cole's Soul Old King Cole Loved his Soul Loved merry old Soul did he He called for Danny White, Jimmy Thomas and Bill Black Man! What a fiddlers 3 Now first on stage came Jimmy Thomas and he sang 'The beautiful night' when he had finished he left the stage And on came Danny White When Danny White was on the stage He sang 'Cracked up over you' Then he sang 'Natural Soul Brother' To mention but a few Then on the stage came our well known friend Bill Black in great demand And guess who came on with his combo? That's right! The Bob and Earl band Now both the bands went on to play 'Little Queenie' and 'My little girl' But all this soulful music Sent King Cole into a whirl Now all the Ladies, Lords and Dukes All did their very best But alas they could do nothing And laid his Soul to rest.
