  2. beleive me, and i done this a thousand times when I had record shops, and it's worked. WARM water in a bowl, not hot, 2 drops of washing up liquid and stir with you finger, don't let it bubble. Rub the record with a soft cloth after dabbing the cloth in the liquid, you can be quite aggressive it won't harm, then run the record under a cold water tap making sure not to get the label wet. Then dry with a dry cloth or kitchen towel. If it doesn't work, do it again, and if no joy then, go to the chemist shop and ask for some 'isopropenol', tell them what you want it for or they might not sell it to you. The get a soft clean cloth and wipe the record with it, the Isopropanol evaporates very quickly, so no need to dry the record. As I say these methods have worked for me thousands of times Hope this helps Steve X
  3. Thanks for the comments Sean, Not really bothered about the price tbh, I used to have the track on UK and sold it with the rest of my tunes in the 80,(FOOL), managed to get most of them back now and a few besides, and this was one that I was missing and I've been waiting for a promo copy to come along in decent condition, so i'm well pleased. Oh! and you're 100% right about the feel of this track, it def' makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention :-)
  4. Yeah know what you mean, but you wouldn't get it for that these days, beleive me, i've tried. Then again, you could get the original 'Frankie Beverly - If that's what you wanted' for a tenner in the 70s LOL
  5. I think for that much money, I'd want it to be in decent nick, sounds to be quite a bit of surface noise at the biggining. Nice tune though.
  6. Hi Peeps Just received this from the States, got it off the bay for approx' £23 inc' postage. It's in virtually mint condition apart from the few marks on the label. Just wondered what you thought about the price etc.? Thanks fellas and ladies
  7. USED TO LOVE WATCHING MARTYN AT THE 'TORCH', AMAZING ENERGY AND THE ONLY BLOKE I KNEW THAT COULD CHEW POLO'S. :-)
  8. Hi fellas I'm trying to find out more about the Jackie Wilson track 'My heart is calling' I have looked all over and can't find any info. Was it a major release, was it a B side? What label, was it on Brunswick? Any help would be appreciated Thank you.

Hi Ian It says on the album that the title is 'To care', is that wrong then? Why would they put a wrong title on an album??
  10. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether 'Chris Clark - Sweet loving' got released on a single or is it just an album track. Thanks
  11. Which one? or both of them? Does look nice though
  12. OK! OK!, I know you lot don't like albums but you must admit, this looks quite the part. Just received it from the States and it only cost me a mere $13, bargain me thinks. I just love the look of it.
  13. SORRY, CANT DELETE THE MISTAKEN SECOND POST ABOVE, AS THE 'SAVE CHANGES' BUTTON IS HALD HIDDEN AND DOESN'T WORK, AND THE 'DELETE POST' BUTTON HAS DISAPPEARED COMPLETELY? TAXI !!!!!!!
  14. Well it is confusing, as there have been many notes held for a long time, but not in songs. I'm pretty sure that it was in the Guinness bbok of records sometime that it was Bill Withers - Lovely day, who held the note for 19 seconds. If you go to 3 minutes 05 seconds into the song, you can marvel at this amazing feat. Well worth listening to from the beginning anyway, it's an awesome track
  15. Just to thank you all very much for your contributions. I think I have managed to acquire a 2nd press on 'Smoke' weather it arrives or not is another matter, but I will keep you informed. Thanks again Steve
  16. Anyone got one for sale, either re-press or Boot, not bothered or rich :-)
  17. Just added this to Ebay for sale Rare UK copy of 'The Virginia Wolves - Stay' on 'Stateside' Click here to view auction
  18. I wrote to ebay to complain when they made the free postage rule. My case was that if I started a record, let's say an album for this scenario, at 99p, to beakon the bidders in, and the record only sold for 99p, and then I had to post it, which is £1.65 UK, and then there's the Ebay and Paypal fees, I would be loosing money hand over fist. Their reply was that i should incorporate the postage costs etc into the start price. But if you are starting a record at let's say £3.50 to incorporate the fees etc. instead of 99p, it puts folk of bidding. I've always beleived and still do, that if a record is worth it, it'll find it's own value so i have always started my auction price at .99p. but there is always the chance that it won't get bid on. Their excuse was that more and more online shopping sites are doing free postage so they were trying to attract more customers to Ebay by offering the same. But normal sellers are not online multi million £ companies that can afford to absorb the cost of postage, and most Ebay sellers cannot afford to give free postage. This week I put a load of classical LPs onto Ebay, I sold 7 to one seller, the postage cost was over £4 second class, so work it out, 7 records at 99p = £6.93. take the postage off that = £3.93, then there's the Ebay and paypal fees, packaging equipment and petrol to the post office.? Is it worth it?

  23. Early 70s, the Torch, Bill Blacks Combo - Little Queenie played by Martyn Ellis - GOD REST HIS SOUL
  24. THIS BROUGHT BACK A BAD MEMORY FOR ME. Wigan casino, Mid 70s, bought 3 records inside the club, and cos I didn't want to carry them round all night, I thought it was a "good idea" to put them in the car. Not wanting them to be on show in the car, I thought it would be a '"good idea" to put them in the boot. Well! how was i to know that the next day would be the hottest on record? Yeah you've guessed it, went to get them out next morning after taking a dip in the swimming pool, and the bloody things had all warped to hell I can't and don't want to remember what records they were, all I know is that i spent all my money that I had on them. BOOHOO!! GUTTED!
