  5. Mojo Workin' @The Rum Shack

I think I first met tonight's guest Martin Gavin at Friday Street or was it Goodfoot. Anyway his club Caledonia Soul which was held at the legendary Woodside Social Club in in the West End was one of the clubs which inspired me to set up soul nights in the suburbs. Martin along with Lenny Harkins and Keith Keddie were the resident DJs with Martin nominally in charge of the gig. We have some cold air and hot sounds at The Rum Shack and you can stand at the bar and dance on the floor. Martin actually supported Jimmy Smith whose Mojo Workin' album inspired the club's name. He has DJ'd at Goodfoot, Friday Street and at the 100 Club. along with gigs at the Glasgow Jazz Festival whom he persuaded to book the Bill Bush Combo. hope you can join us for an evening of fantastic music and some laughs. Doors to the downstairs dancehall open at eight and we're on till 1 am. We're looking for a £2 donation which will go to Starter Packs Glasgow. They work with local Housing Associations to help people set up new homes by providing some necessities.
  6. Mojo Workin' @The Rum Shack

Martin Gavin makes his debut at Mojo Workin' at The Rum Shack on Saturday 17th September. Martin was one of the Goodfoot crew and with previous Mojo Workin' guest Lenny Harkins and Keith Keddie started the Caledonia Soul nights at the legendary Woodside Social Club. Martin has DJ'd at the Glasgow Jazz Festival and at the all nighters at The 100 Club in Oxford St. I'm looking forward to an evening of great soul music. Last month we raised £214 for Starter Packs Glasgow so please make a £2 donation at the door.
  7. Mojo Workin' at The Room Shack

David Belcher (Soul Bowl) is our guest DJ. He was a resident at Soul at Ad Lib, he presented his own soul show on FM radio and has been a guest at more than a few soul clubs including SouthSide Soul. We're back to free admission this month after raising over £220 for Starter Packs Glasgow and a big thanks to everyone who contributed. This month expect Soul, Motown, R&B and maybe some touches of Smooth soul when I'm at the bar. The wooden floor in the downstairs ballroom awaits your foot fall. And our in house sound system awaits your ears. Music for Dancing.
  8. Mojo Workin' at The Rum Shack

Guest DJ Trevor Bond (Soul Cellar) returns with a box of Funky R&B and some soulful tunes too. Our downstairs ballroom has a wooden dance floor and a top class in house sound system. The Licensing Board has granted The Rum Shack permission to open till 1am on Friday and Saturday evenings for private functions and charitable fundraisers. We’ve always wanted a late bar so the fun could continue after midnight. This provides the opportunity to continue dancing and also raise money for a good cause. This cause will be Starter Packs Glasgow whom I’ve known since I volunteered in Govan from where they support people who move into a new and usually unfurnished home. I’ve previously donated my fashion mistakes, CDs and doublers of 45s I have before going in to their shop The Magpie’s Nest and buying more of the same. Mojo Workin’ will fund raise by asking patrons for a £2 donation on entry. This will be collected by The Rum Shack and will be forwarded to Starter Packs Glasgow. Myself and the guest DJs will continue to be paid by the bar. All door donations go to Starter Packs Glasgow. mojo working print Starter 2016.pdf

  10. Mojo Workin'

Mojo Workin' welcomes Lenny Harkins (one time resident DJ at the legendary Caledonia Soul) to the decks. The Festive edition of Mojo Workin' at The Rum Shack features Felonious and a box of soul and R&B tunes with a sprinkle of Christmas vinyl . This month's guest is Lord Holyrude of Doonhame. It's a while since they DJ'd together in Vegas but their shared aim is music for dancing. Expect some low down and dirty rhythm and blues and some sophisticated yet still funky soul. 12. Soul at Ad Lib

  13. Southside Soul

Southern Fried at Southside Soul. A few years ago Christine and I would head for an evening of soul at Pollok ES Social Club hosted by Stuart Ross and Kevin McArdle. It was called Southern Fried and Stuart and Kevin would be joined each month by a guest DJ adding some spice to the mix. This month I'm please to say Stuart is our guest DJ. Top class sounds on a High Def sound system with the decks sitting on best grade concrete slabs. We do have all that but what makes Southside Soul so great is the mix of Soul, motown and sixties styled R&B. Music for dancing. The tablet and home baking, social prices and wooden dance floor also help.
  14. Mojo Workin'

Robert Waite of Ayr Soul Club joins Felonious on the decks at The Rum Shack on Saturday 21st November so expect a fine selection of Northern Soul within a mix of Motown and R&B. Entry as always is free and the music starts at eight. Remember the Rum Shack serves delicious Caribbean styled cooking so why not make a night of it with a meal followed by a dance. Music kicks off at Eight
  15. Mojo Records (polydor)

Dennis Hay posted this scan to Facebook, It has the same cat number as the Mojo Release, 2092 001. We've ruled it out as an Irish pressing as it doesn't have the Polydor numbering used for the rest of their Irish catalogue, And South Africa which released it ...
