Currently working on HYPE & SOUL which is by Al Abrams, who became Berry Gordy's Ist employee in 1959 in Detroit, and went on to become Motown's legendary publicity director. Al has supplied over 1,000 documents and photos, many of them never seen before, along with a series of searing behind the scenes "essays".

Will be out in May, published byy Soulvatiion, and will (I think) take people's breath away.

Al will be coming over to do some PR work for the book so might even get him along to the Ritz Reunion!

I used to go to the Alniters at the Ritz in the 90's with my old friend Simon from Sth London. We also went along to a couple of Rarest of the Rare alniters and they were awesome. I thought the venue had been lost forever when Mecca sold it a few years ago. Glad to see Soul events back at this great venue.I have just bought a couple of tickets for the alldayer. Was not old enough in 76 to have gone then (only 10 years old). Looking forward to it very much. Have promoted the event on my Facebook page. First time on Soul Source for ages!! KTF. Watford Chris.

Well it's taken 30 years but the Heart Of England Soul is back at The Manchester Ritz for an All-Dayer!

The event is promoted by Music & Media Consultancy & Soulvation and takes place on Sunday July 31 from 3pm till 11pm.

Ritz alldayers were legendary, possibly summat to do with the fact that we'd only left the Casino 5 hours earlier.

Yes Junior Walker at Mecca Highland Room and Miracles downstairs had a great time.

Saw Edwin at Ritz and someone else but cannot remember must have been half asleep from Mecca, then Wigan then Ritz ..blooming heck how did we do it ??
