The O'Jays - The Last Word -The Last Album

The O'Jays - The Last Word -The Last Album

Last Friday saw the release of a new album from The O'Jays, titled 'The Last One'. This album was announced last year as their first for 15 years but in the same breath was also announced as their last one ever.

'The Last One'  is now out and about in record stores and online, available in all the usual formats, cd, vinyl, mp3 and on most if not all subscribe music streaming services.

With the album being both a first and last (so to speak) album, being billed as more 'political' than past works, plus a revisit of a classic and featuring the involvement of such people as Steve Greenberg, Mike Mangini,  Sam Hollander and soul legend Betty Wright this album has a lot of promise, can check out it via the preview below...

The O'Jays Official Site has a length release article, a brief clip follows below...

Release notes

So it’s no surprise that on The Last Word, The O’Jays’ first studio album in 15 years and what the band has announced will be their FINAL album, emotes the same hunger and vocal craftsmanship as the 2005 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s greatest ‘70s and ‘80s works.

The Last Word was produced by the Grammy nominated producers Steve Greenberg, Mike Mangini and R&B legend Betty Wright (the trio behind Joss Stone’s “Soul Sessions”), along with the songwriter and rock/pop mastermind Sam Hollander (Panic! at the Disco, Weezer, Neon Trees).

“It’s almost like having a bucket list,” Eddie explains, when asked why the group decided to return to the studio one final time to create some magic. “We wanted to do an O’Jays album that’s fantastic from beginning to end. This project definitely does just that.”
