About The Event

Our next date for our ‘Movin’ On A Groove’ - Sunday Soul Chill-Out is Sunday 15th March - 2pm till 10pm.

We are very pleased to announce that our guest DJ for the afternoon will be York's very own Jonny Crawshaw who runs the Soul Provision event at the Golden Ball in York. Jonny is an avid collector and DJ with another great collection of soul records to play out for you all. We will also be celebrating our 2nd Anniversary (would you believe that we have been going that long?), so, all in all, it will be a brilliant afternoon. Free Anniversary CD and sticker to first 50 people through the door!

The Ivory bar is located in Harrogate town centre and we are on the 36 Leeds - Harrogate - Ripon bus route - only a minutes walk from Betty’s Tea Rooms on Parliament Street.

Despite the coronvirus anxiety and uncertainty, this one was a packer (again) by 5.30 pm , soulies travelling from far and wide again plus those locally keen to enjoy all things 'Moovin' on a Groove' on a Sunday afternoon/evening in Harrogate at the excellent,  up market Ivory Club venue. Friendly and welcoming, great sound system, drinks promos, these bi monthly sessions are a 'must attend' for so many ....with the convenience of bargain rates at the Travel Lodge next door for travellers and added bonus of its central Harrogate location with eateries and shops, including 'Space Vintage' opposite.

A fitting 2nd  Anniversary with Jonny Crawhaw from Soul Provision guesting and the residents , Mike , Graham and Dave playing the vinyl with panash to a great reaction....A rousing evening set with Dave playing the northern classics and Motown prior to which it was 7ts, rare and underplayed gems , x- over , mid tempo and Modern. Three tunes particularly caught the ear if only to illustrate  what Moovin' is all about, something a little different rather than the same old same old repetition. So I give you Sonny Craver - 'Outside Of Memphis' (Dalya)

, Paul Revere and the Raiders 'ain't nothing wrong' (Jay Boy)

and Robert Taylor 'Time keeps ticking by' (Lu Tall)

So with the Covid-19 measures now in place, thankful that we made it to 'Moovin'' and massive thanks to the organisers (Graham Spink, Mike Lowcock and Dave Cervi), the venue owners & staff and everybody there who made it rather special.

Response from the promoter:

Thanks Andy, Glad you enjoyed it, we were a bit apprehensive about holding it & with no announcement from the Government to the contrary, we decided to go ahead, as it might be last chance saloon for a lot of people, which it is how it turned out to be. Hopefully by the time our May event comes around, the country will be in a better place and we can continue to resume our normal life and soulful pursuits.
