Is this a common occurance:

Sold a record on ebay, and the winner has 0 feedback/new member.

Immediately after the auction closed, get email from 2nd highest bidder saying "opps just missed that, please offer it to me if the winner does not pay".

Am I too suspicious in thinking it is a con to get it cheaper, as I have not been paid, yet?

I'm more of a buyer than seller. What I would suggest is checking out feedback of runner up.

dont think it is a con, because if the person who has won, had not put a bid in then the second person would have won with his bid anyway, if u see what i mean, i always find new ebayers are a bit slow paying cant seem to get to grips with the payment system ,have u sent them a invoice yet, the only problem i seem to get with new e bayers is some are just fishing for your e mail address , normally get it on low value items, u then get spam galores or e mails pretending to be from e bay or paypal asking for info, these are fakes neither ask for info so be aware of that, especially if your buyer is from abroad

Pauline, was this a reggae record by any chance, if it was then you've become another victim of the Mexican scam, your bidder is a fake bidder who has only bumped up the price to annoy you and cause trouble for other sellers of jamaican music. I've had this done to me a dozen times now...anyone with a zero feedback, ban them.

The Mexican Scam haha

They're a bunch of stupid teens with nothing else to do. I'm not really sure why they do it, sometimes they just spoil your auction and I've heard sometimes they ask money to sellers or buyers in order to keep the auction running.

At least one of them has got his a*se kicked over here because of this...

Ah ha, bells are sort of ringing now.

I had one bid cancelled. Expanation was: Administration Cancellation, and top bid of £199.99.

So this could be one of those?

The winner though has a London address? Or could that be just a scam address? ID names are kinda similar.

Oh well, live and learn.
