I have no idea why, but as I came upstairs I found myself singing a song that I don't think I've sung since I was in a group back in the late 60s. The lyrics are no problem, here's the first couple of couplets or whatever they're called.
"Pretty girls everywhere, but I don't care cos I (Can't stop - lovin' you)
You make it plain to see you don't love me but I (Can't stop - lovin' you)"
Something that may act as a further clue is the hook line. At the end of the verse the singer goes "But I-I-I... Can't stop a-lovin'... you" That final 'you' is a strangled squeak (It's actually a tone below an octave above the previous note ie. a flattened 7th above root, but 'strangled squeak' will do).
My problem is I can't remember the title or the artist.
