Very nice it is too. Thanks Jim:thumbsup: It's been around a good while. Its on a Goldmine CD from some 10 (?) years ago. Various Artists-Groovesville Review Volume 2 - 25 Rare and Unreleased Heartstompers From The Vaults of Detroit GOLDMINE GCSD 87 Melvin actually wrote it. Great tune... and beautiful on a 45 by Darrell Banks. Sean
September 5, 200915 yr PS: Your last played clip (Bobby McClure) is one of mty faves too! Magnificent! Sean
September 5, 200915 yr Author Thanks Sean good god, I think I've got that cd somewhere in the loft and never played it . Doh. Darrells' is 'The' version tho', a lovely uk stax copy comes out most record room nites. Cheers Jim.
September 5, 200915 yr Yep - I have the UK Stax copty too Jim. I first played it out in the early/mid 70's with little success (it didn't really fit the STOMP, STOMP mentality of the time for most people). It was early 80's at Clifton Hall before I started hammering it... and it caught fire! Superb record for sure and an ACE double sider! Sean
September 5, 200915 yr On a vaguely related theme, how about the Darrell Banks ace version of Never Alone, got it on a late 60s Volt LP, unreleased as 45 (apart from the version when he was in the Holidays of course)

"Never Alone" is on the "Here To Stay" LP... which is home to the equally brilliant "Forgive Me"... ...Pure Class! Sean
September 5, 200915 yr Author I concur, but 'Look into the eyes of a fool' slays me everytime also. I'm sure Cleveland Horne wrote it. I'll have to get it out now . I wonder what would have happened to DB if he hadn't met his untimely end? Only 26ish years old as well. At least the brits are the custodians of his legacy, Jim
September 5, 200915 yr Funny, Just playing the DB version right now...dont know the other version to be honest...got a clip? Great photo BTW mate! Chris.
Folks,
Recently heard this (demo?) via a rather splendid interweb radio show, has this recently come to light or has it been around a spell? I'm assuming unreleased.
Very nice it is too.
Thanks
Jim
