Hi all,

Can someone let me know about the difference in Phyllis Brown - I've Got Something On My Mind on Le Cam.

My copy is a white label with purple writing with "Roma" on the B side.

Have seen a red copy but with a different B side.

Is mine a reissue/legit release or a boot.

I have a feeling like my copy this may be at best a 70s re-issue but i think more like a boot hope i'm wrong but i don't hold much hope for this mate.

Thats what I was thinking.May have to go after a red one then.

As far as I am aware it was never booted and the difference between the 2 labels is just a different pressing plant a little time later- Please tell me if I am wrong.

Not noted as a boot in any of JMs bootleg guides.

The 'few' copies I've had of this 45 - over a 25+ ish year period - have all been the same design as the above scan. Never booted as far as I'M aware..

Relevant or, maybe, not.. Phyllis' 'Oh Baby' 45 on Rainbow is on two different coloured label designs - but I don't recollect seeing any other label design for the LeCam release ??

(other than - just now !! - that amazing 'green' copy of yours, Yann !!)

There were a lot of legal re-press copies of the Le Cam/Charay family of labels (Edie Robin "There must be a love somewhere" vocal to "Soul symphony"anyone?).

I have had a pale blue copy (the copy that was first played by Kev Roberts- would you believe! still had stickers over the catalogue numbers), a mint green/black copy, and I had a version by Sonny and Phylis (purple/silver label)that had an odd 'double' intro. I think Kev had been in touch with Major Bill who owned Le Cam/Charay because the same night he played the Men from Macon's instrumental of 'Salvation' as well as the Chresa Watson version of the song.

Wasn't that a vocal put over the original "Soul Symphony" for the market at the time.I have this on same label as above.Probably right about the reissue thing.

Prefer Sons of Moses instrumental myself.

I think you are right about that. The Sons of Moses was a Major Bill Smith thing though wasn't it?, originally issued on Soft (if I remember correctly) before Coral. I always quite liked it myself though, especially compared to all those Soussan vocal overdubs!
