Hiya guys and gals anybody enlighten me on the use of the term pocorn, more specificaly Belgium popcorn. Is it something our Exciting european cousins eat when at the cinema or does it have a more musical connatation ?

its called it because it started being played at the popcorn club i think , mix of r&b ,soul ,instrumentals etc

Not dissimilar from the Northern scene in many ways (apart from the music), but there's a lot of overlap there too.

More about the beat (midtempo ) than the nature of the vocals, perhaps.

Shortly after The Delcos - Arabia started getting plays I saw a copy on a list from the US. The dealer described it as "excellent Belgian popcorn".

Lots of 1960's pop records are played on the popcorn scene, girly types, big voiced male crooners as well as lots of instrumentals, R&B and Soul.

Records these days have crossed both ways with northern tracks being played on the popcorn scene and popcorn records being played at northern soul venues.
