Does anyone know where this record find came from.

Monster in Wigan Casino late 1970's. First copies asking price £400. Then the market is flooded with copies, that look to me like mid/late 70's vinyl!

Is this record from a sixties master tape and pressed up for the Northern Scene in the 70's?

Or is it a late 70's record that sounds 60's?

Is there a demo?

I have seen other S.O.S releases (yellow and red) and they do have a 60's vinyl look to them, unlike the E J Chandler.

strange played it this morning at home, remember it been played at wigan, loved the vocals

I think its a great record, but there is a story behind it.

I have asked about it before on Soul Source, but no one seems to know much about it!

First played on the scene around 1979 covered up as the Superlatives. Sam, Raistrick, Wherry, Searling and one or two others playing it. Think they came from John Andreson, who a year or so later found the stock load. Was then on his list for £2.50. Never was a £400 record, even when first played, one of the "at the time covered-up" copies sold for £50. Maybe if you ring John, he'll shed some light on it for you. Never heard of it being a 'pressed-up' for scene job". That said the publishing company was Roll'em Smok'em Music.
