Is there anything out there that tells the story of of WI music that came to the UK in the 60s? I'm assuming it want from ble-beat to ska to rock-steady and finihed up being called reggae. As a kid I bought tons of stuff on Trojan, Bamboo, Gas, Pama, etc. I can never ever remember calling it reggae

Started reading this book, looks good, takes me way............way back.............Northern Soul even gets a mention.

The book makes the point that the early scene was very, very London based, so it was normal for us to grow up

in that environment. When the "scene" changed to include funk, that was our departure theme tune. Thank heavens
