first of all, sorry if this question has been answered previously, but I don't find any topic about it and I'd confirm this doubt. the question is simple: viewing different 45's excello labels, you can notice that the ® just below the logo is not present in all of them. why? is it one cue to recognise first pressings? only a pressing fault? and what's about the pressing colours?

are you talking about the red "banner" label? All the ones I have on that have the "R". I know the red label comes before but then I'm not sure if the white with blue banner or white with arrows comes next, later on is the all blue label.

thanks, Kris! yes, I'm talking about the red (or dark orange) label. curiously, I've seen copies thats have the ® only on one side. also, it's strange to notice that the colours are diferent viewing different 45s (always talking about the same label): dark or bright, more or less intense colours without depending the label condition. it's a bit confusing. can be only label pressing mistakes? differents materials, inks or machines? or simply repros or bootlegs along time?

i didn't look at both sides, I'll have a look later & see if I have any without the "R" on the flip. I think the colours are just down to inks/pressing plants because I'm fairly sure later represses used whatever label design was current. I don't know what the bootleg status of the label is sorry, I know the Charles Sheffield was booted on a totally different looking label which is very obvious.

you probably did, there are probably other boots of that record besides the one I'm thinking of (I think it was a white Ichiban label).

yes, in fact there is a look-a-like boot of this 45 (I've seen that some boots are gone for 50-60 pounds after the auction finished ... when others are listed as 'buy it now' for 10$ astonishing).

Excello 45 labels ordering is Orange with navy banner, White with red + blue banner, White with pink + blue arrows, and finally Blue with 'Excello' in box
