October 19, 201014 yr I watched some months ago, thought it was a pretty decent film despite some inaccuracies and a bit of artistic licence. Watching the film you'd think one of the Chess Brothers didn't exist.
October 19, 201014 yr I watched it on Sky Indie a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed it on the whole. A lot of poetic licence was taken. Beyonce's singing was great but her overacting wasn't so good. The guy playing Howlin' Wolf was terrific. In the general spirit of movie reviews on SS... the wallpaper was unconvincing, the lighting was much too understated, the hairstyles were slapdash and the trousers were all the wrong length.
October 19, 201014 yr The guy playing Howlin' Wolf was terrific. Yep, totally agree..............thought he was great too!!! Interesting to see the rivalry between Wolf and Muddy! I watched it because of the music..............but did actually pretty much enjoy the film as a whole too!! Edited October 19, 201014 yr by jobbo
October 19, 201014 yr Yeah i have to agree, i thought the guy playing Howlin' Wolf was fantastic. Overall an okay movie, as mentioned lots of inaccuracies but what more can be expected by anything with Beyonce in it!
October 19, 201014 yr I also enjoyed it quite a bit. And Beyonce's performance was a nice surprise to me, I expected something really, really bad,
November 8, 201014 yr enjoyed the film immensly particulary howling wolf and thought Beyonce done well -artistic licence yes and a shame it concentrated on Leonard Chess but still i think it is hard to do this kind of film without the artistic licence - would of loved to have seen Howling wolf and Muddy Waters With Etta at their peak. November 8, 201014 yr Yeah i have to agree, i thought the guy playing Howlin' Wolf was fantastic. Overall an okay movie, as mentioned lots of inaccuracies but what more can be expected by anything with Beyonce in it! ...Of course Eamonn 'Howling Wolf' Walker was fantastic! He's a Londoner born and bred, why would he be anything else.... Those Sourcers with longer memories might recall that he used to play Alf Garnett's gay black neighbour in 'In Sickness And In Health'... Dont really understand what you're trying to get at with your comment about Beyonce. She's no Meryl Streep, for sure but even so she's no better or worse than any dozen current Hollywood starlets as actresses go. Can you therefore explain why would I expect inaccuracies in a film, just because she's in it? It's not like she wrote the script or directed the film, for Chrissakes...
