A beauty Dave, can't place the singer, but doesn't it sound like a Paul Kelly style song/production??

Martin.

Theres a thought. Does also remind me of some Malaco recordings from back in the day. The disc came from Tennesse, which wouldn't make it to much of a stretch to be from that studio. I know Denise LaSalle lives there, but don't think it's her.

Listening again, could be a Memphis recording also, I would say it comes from that triangle that is Muscle Shoals, Jackson, Ms and Memphis. Just my luck someone is now gonna say it's a west coast recording

Bugger me, I need my ears cleaning; it is. So mystery solved it's Carl Carlton. Funny how the mind plays tricks on you, I was sold it by a guy as a unknown female track, so when it arrived I listen to it exspecting a female singer, and heard one. Also did all my web searches based upon that belief.

Just found me a nice demo sitting on the shelf, feel even more of a fool now.

Thanks Alan

Dave, if i didn't already know it i would of thought it was female too. I know it got a 45 release but i know it from the "Everlasting Love" album.
