Soul Sam also had a copy, was it the same one? He played it out, i think? at the old Lifeline niter at Sheridan's, which suprised me somewhat due to never having heard it anywhere before. And didn't realise how rare it was til then.

But Barbara Jean is by far the best version for me.

Are there really so few known copies of this 45?

My copy shown in the scan in the above post came via Trevski - so I guess it was also the Manship auction copy.

Sam's had his copy for at least 15 years, remember him playing it when we were doing a local radio show in the mid 90s. Asked him then about getting hold of a copy and was told then that they were very few and far between. Never managed to acquire a copy .
