I'm in the process of setting up a new night in Yorkshire. Yeah I know there's loads of problems with that but the biggest one seems to be fees. Now, as a z list DJ I've played at many do's for nothing or something pretty close. At one venue I was told I could have as many bottles of beer as I wanted, alas there was no bottle opener to go with it!!! That is true but I managed to secrete every bottle on my person as I left!!

ANYWAY, can any of us fine chaps (and chapasses) agree on or note from past experience, what a venue should be reasonably be expecting to pay an individual who guests at a do. What I'm trying to fathom out is whether a £4 door tax with 150 capacity could afford anyone but me and crossover Chris to do the night?

Believe it or not this is a serious question .........

Coming soon to Yorkshire ... :hatsoff2:

Cheers, Jim

As an aside to the Next generation topic, the first spot is to be dedicated to the younger interest and they can play whatever they soulfuly like. We're putting em on first so they can bugger off somewhere else later and enjoy themselves!!

Charge a fiver mate...bloody hell soul nights were 3 or 4 quid when i started going in the late 80s. Everything else has gone up...why not soul nights?

Whats a fiver these days...I`d glady pay double that for a good night out.

I'd have to agree with Chris, £4 is too cheap!
