November 4, 200519 yr The mentioned above 45s was played at wigan cos they dropped in the dj play lists with the likes of Footsee and Nosmo king crap that most wigan djs spunn! These type of uk 45s was speacialy chosen and forced down the dancers throats so Pye and Emi who was cashing in on the new soul demand!! can remember photo,s that was taken with Wigan Djs and Uk label distributors reps!! Kev Roberts can probably tell you more about this subject,he and others was more on the COMMERCIAL side of the scene back then!! Hated the way Wigan was portrayed has a Disco type thing!! November 8, 200519 yr ==== keith minshull alot blame russ for the white stuiff at wigan but keith was a big culprit i think,, also remember Sam's 'infamous' letter to echoes defending his playing of such as Paul Anka's 'when we get there' and Charlie Gracies ' he'll never love you like i do' - and Searling wasn't innocent either, so we can't just blame Winstanley. Not really sure if we should be blaming anybody at all - that was then and things now still has its failings. On the UK side, I personally still think Jacki Bond's 'Why can't I love him' on Strike is stormin' Northern

Russ was a baddie, Keith was as bad and broke things like Muriel Day, Jackie Trent "You babe" and the dreaded "Love Hustle"....Yes Richard did play Judith Durham and if I remember rightly also Peggy March.
