This is the first Carnival label's UK release and the Manhattans best known Northern Soul dancer (which Jimmy James & The Vagabonds also covered).

Seriously obscure vocal-group sweet soul harmony ballad from the "deep side" of soul. The intro does not prepare you for the soaring falsetto lead vocal that kick starts this wonderful example of fusing different vocal into one highly-tuned harmony ballad.

Take time to listen, every single vocal is pitch-perfect, contrasting against each other - an atmospheric rap adds to the texture of the "tapestry" of sweetness - the lone piano is all that's required when the vocal are as skilled as this recording captures.

As so often is the case - the flipside is hard-hitting FUNK - underlining the versatility of these talent saturated local-vocal-groups.

Condition of this 45 is near perfect!

Lee Dorsey was to New Orleans in the 60s what Fats Domino was during the 50s. Chris Blackwell's decision to release this 16 track compilation of his "Fury" recordings was inspired by the love of black music more than for commercial reasons. Pre-"Ride Your Pony "- Lee Dorsey was an unknown on this Isle and of course the LP sold in virtually nothing. Making this 1965 UKpress a seldom seen, annoyingly elusive platter. But in this condition with two perfect labels, neat clean flaw-free vinyl and a cover with no writing on it front or back - it is a rare delight for the eye and ear. Consideration of ownership, should not be ponder as it this condition it's a certified rarity!

I bid low on the kenny smith and lost, it still went pretty low.

that 25th century review is a really nice sweet soul cut, i can't believe it only went for 22 pounds.
