Just reading through the Thread regarding The most Motown Sounding records that were not actually Motown.

Got me thinking about the Motown Tracks that for whatever reason failed to get a release on 45 in the U.S.A.

Why did these fabulous tracks remain Unreleased, Album only or only Available on 45 elsewhere.

This one is Classic Motown.

One of my Favourite Girl Groups, why did "Reachin' For Something I Can't Have" fail to be Realeased on 45 in the U.S.A.

If that fabulous track were to have made a US 45, it would have been the version by one of their actual commercial artists/groups (I know I've heard one by at least one of them-Kim Weston? or Brenda Holloway?......or?). But that brings up the question of why there were literally HUNDREDS of cuts left in the can that I think would have been hits.

At the time I'm guessing that all would have been through the Voting process used at Motown and for some reason didn't make the grade.

it does beggar belief why loads of unreleased stuff never even made it onto LP`s rather than some of the poor cover versions
