Just reading through the Thread regarding The most Motown Sounding records that were not actually Motown.

Got me thinking about the Motown Tracks that for whatever reason failed to get a release on 45 in the U.S.A.

Why did these fabulous tracks remain Unreleased, Album only or only Available on 45 elsewhere.

If that fabulous track were to have made a US 45, it would have been the version by one of their actual commercial artists/groups (I know I've heard one by at least one of them-Kim Weston? or Brenda Holloway?......or?). But that brings up the question of why there were literally HUNDREDS of cuts left in the can that I think would have been hits.
