Those of you that know me will be aware of this little problem and so probably will the record dealers here so apologies, just indulge me. It's my first subject post and hell, it's good and cheap therapy!

At my second allnighter (Yate), many years ago I heard the Robin Wilson version of "Better Use Your Head" and was stunned at the vocals, the phrasing, the lyrics, the strings, the beat - everything. A few weeks later, at Wigan, I heard the Little Anthony original - ditto. Then I heard there were other versions and slowly got to hear them at various venues.

Yep, you guessed it, I set about buying all of them and think that, as of last July, I am complete. I now have versions by:

Robin Wilson, Little Anthony, Dennis D'ell, Marion Ryan, Little Henry Lee, Mel Torme, Fifth Dimension and Rudolph Boyce and The Fantastics (John M, you were right, thel last one is "wierd"!!)

Funny, I still get a thrill when playing at least the first 5 of these verions and whenever I have DJ'd I'll always slip one in somewhere.

Anyway, to my points:

1) Does anyone know of any other versions - but please bear in mind that my quest took 30 years and I may be a bit fragile!

2) Does anyone have a similar "version" obsession and what is the record.

Thank you for your time - I need to go lie down now.

John.

I can't help you but I'd love to hear any version other than LA, DD, MR and RW.

What a brilliant song this is...I like all the versions. Robin Wilson used to be massive at St.Giles (Sammies) allnighters back in 75, for the people who couldn't get hold of Little Anthony's version.
