Found this today, I'm sure this is O.C. Tolbert, but can't seem to find any info about it. Its Oscar Tolbert - I Can't Handle It b/w Welcome the Need (Chi-Land Soul)

sound clip here...

I'd love to have a NM copy if any one has one.

Thanks

agreed. This is a gospel label, this is the only soul record Ive heard on the label (thats not Jesus-oriented). Plays alright, and looks like hell.

It doesn't sound at all like OC from any of the others I've heard. He was often gospel associated but from detroit not Chicago and there were a lot of Tolbert singers so it might be a relation. Any chance of a scan?

Nice record though.

you're right, he doesn't sound like OC.... but perhaps theres a connection in there somewhere. It was arranged by E. Franklin, which could be prominent gospel singer Ernest Franklin??

What's the history behind this Oscar Tolbert 45 ?

I'd guess some copies came into Soul Bowl about 20 to 30 years ago & were quickly snapped up. Am I correct in assuming this ?
