MERLE SPEARS & THE TREATS - I WANT TO KNOW - ATLANTIC DEMO
EX+ £50
Big record a few years back, uptempo R & B influenced dancer, this is a superb copy.
JOHNNY NASH - WHAT KIND OF LOVE IS THIS / DEEP IN THE HEART OF HARLEM - GROOVE
EX- £50
Gets a minus grade for a couple of non-sounding marks, both sides play EX+, cracking uptempo dancer "What Kind Of Love" plus a bonus B side, the Jimmy Radcliffe penned beat ballad "Deep In The Heart Of Harlem". Great double sider at a good price.
BROOKS ODELL - STANDING TALL / THE LIVELY ONES - COLUMBIA DEMO
VG++ £40
Both sides have some surface and the occasional pop (once I think on "Lively Ones") but they both play great and this is a half price double sider. Radio Station stamp on the label.
THE PACETTES - DON'T READ THE LETTER - REGINA
EX £15
Nice girl group tune fromApril '64
THE PLATTERS '65 - RUN WHILE IT'S DARK - ENTREE
EX £10
Latin-tinged dancer
THE PEPPERS - LITTLE PIECE OF PAPER - PRESS DEMO
EX £20 SOLD
Really deep voiced girl singer (like Big Maybelle) and connection to the above as it was produced by Buck Ram (Real name Sam Ram - honestly). It's an R & B meets Doo Wop dancer.
THE PARLIAMENTS - A NEW DAY BEGINS - ATCO
EX £15
Maybe the last time you hear the classic Parliaments 60's sound. Le Baron production.
THE PERSIANS - GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF - PAGEANT DEMO
VG+ £20
Lots of marks but plays with practically no problems at all. This is the original, midtempo version of the Little Rose Little number and it's beautiful. B side "Steady Kind" also excellent. Rare on this white demo, has two black stersisks and number on label.
THE PASSIONETTS - MY FAULT - PATH
EX £25 SOLD
This really is one of my favourite discoveries of the 80's, uptempo girl group heaven. Has a few surface marks but plays practically mint, small TOL. Bargain!
THE PERSIANETTES - CALL ON ME / IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY - OR (OPEN)
EX £35
Crazy double sider, both sides tremendous girl group dancers, it's probably forgotten by most that this was actually bootlegged on OOTP but never really distributed.
