Went to see Ruby last night at a small local all-seat venue in Cheltenham - wasn't sure how the gig would be but based on the Jools connection thought why not..... opening act was a laid back but cool blues acoustic soloist Rick Payne - then SHE came on - Jesus H can that woman sing - absolutely awesome and blew the place away - she was on for 2 and 1/4 hrs with no break for what was a 90 min scheduled slot and had the whole place on its feet - from gospel and blues to more modern soul - superb band and the lady just has what it takes - so much passion and funny as hell with the anecdotes - strange how some of the most memorable gigs are those you don't build up high hopes for. She's on a tour - go and see her, you won't be disappointed.
