Posted July 31, 201410 yr Hi Everybody, I've just started collecting a lot of the early 500's Motown TMG's on Issues. I'm looking for some advice on how to spot a re-press of a TMG records. Somebody told me that if it doesn't have 'SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO..' ect that its a re-press / re-issue. I've got a lot of later stuff on Motown (After TMG 700) but they all don't have 'SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO..' on the centre pieces? Any advice?
July 31, 201410 yr Author I think TMG 703 was the last release with the SOLD IN UK. Thank you very much, does that mean, everything after TMG 703 original releases?

August 9, 201410 yr The text “SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS” was printed on EMI records between February 1964 and June 1969, so any older track from before then without it is indeed a reissue. As the post above says, an expensive business for all of the 500 series.
August 9, 201410 yr I'm doing the same but with Aussie Motown, so it's the TMO series... That said lots on Aussie London, W&G were the first issues down under... It's allot cheaper though... Good luck mate... Mal
August 9, 201410 yr may be worth you getting a copy of record collector rare price guide ( record collector mag book) it gives details in there of how to spot the later reissues , ie. font changes in the title text .. as Mr Huxley said hope you've a health bank balance cos some of the 500's aint cheap
