As a collector of Blue-eyed Soul/Beach/Garage/California Sound etc... I thought I'd ask about a curious 45 residing in my collection on 'Raven'.

Not sure if it's the same label as the Soulmasters/Gene & Teambeats etc  but it's from West Virginia.

'I'm So Tired' is a nice down-tempo ballad whilst 'Fat Woman' is a more funky uptempo offering.

 

I know absolutely nothing about the group but found a nice tune by them on youtube, unfortunately it offers no information whatsoever about it's release so I'm asking if anyone on here knows if it was released?

There are two records by the group, one on Raven and the other on Centennial.

Yes, I've seen the one on Centennial but only heard one side.

That second one is pervis lee - you dont care. Private pressing lp only from carolinas. Pretty in demand at mo.

As George states, two different Raven labels, the Esquires scan at the bottom is same Raven label as Pee Wee ( out of Clarksburg, VA)

i call it folk soul with an funky edge. the whole lp are folk songs, another really nice dancer on it btw.

Thanks for posting Dave, that's what propelled me to post this thread in the first place as I am on Garage Hangover's update list and when I got that info I remembered about that particular Raven 45 in my collection.

Was This Covered Up As Hank Hodgeson/Johnson ?
