Posted May 6, 20169 yr Does anyone know why this LP had two different sleeves please? Issued April 1964, #229. I appreciate that the black one is misspelled but I heard it came out after the other. Thanks.
May 6, 20169 yr It was probably due to marketing- when the album was first released in 1962, the title was a good selling point. As the years went on, the title dated the album.
May 7, 20169 yr Author Thanks, I'd heard a similar theory, it can't have sold that many thru' 1962, it is quite rare as you know.
May 7, 20169 yr Also, it was "false advertising", as the only song on it that was released as a single, ("Tistin' Postman" wasn't even a hit, and the others were garbage LP filler material. The first cover is very rare, while I've seen scads of the 2nd. I;m sure that they switched covers very early in the LPs sales run, maybe near the beginning of 1963.
